Role Overview:

The Wooden Factory Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for wooden joinery, furniture, and interior fit-out projects. This role requires analyzing drawings, specifications, and client requirements to determine material, labor, and production costs, ensuring competitive yet profitable quotations for the factory. Key Responsibilities:

Review architectural drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements for wooden joinery, furniture, and fit-out works. Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, machining, finishing, and installation. Source and evaluate prices for raw materials such as timber, plywood, MDF, laminates, veneers, hardware, and finishing products. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and negotiate competitive pricing. Work closely with the design, production, and project management teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility of estimates. Analyze and update cost databases for materials and labor to ensure pricing accuracy. Prepare and submit quotations, tenders, and bill of quantities (BOQ). Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising quality. Support project managers during contract negotiation and handover. Monitor and track project costs to compare estimated vs. actual expenditures. Maintain organized records of all estimates, supplier quotations, and project pricing.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil/Interior/Architectural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator in a wooden joinery/furniture/interior fit-out factory. Strong knowledge of woodworking processes, materials, and finishes. Proficiency in reading technical drawings, BOQs, and specifications. Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail. Strong negotiation and communication skills for supplier and client interaction. Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and estimation software. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
