Job Purpose
The DGM Student Life and Mental Wellbeing is a senior leadership role responsible for fostering a positive, healthy, and supportive campus environment for students at Abu Dhabi (CLIENT).
Reporting to the Deputy Provost Student Affairs, the DGM will lead the development and implementation of strategies to enhance student life, support mental health and wellbeing, and ensure that students have access to the resources they need to thrive personally, academically, and socially.
The role will involve working closely with a range of stakeholders to create a campus culture that prioritizes mental health, inclusivity, and holistic student development, contributing to the overall success of the student experience at CLIENT.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership in Student Life and Wellbeing

• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for student life and mental wellbeing that aligns with the university's mission and vision.
• Collaborate with academic, student affairs, and other university departments to create an integrated approach to student wellbeing.
• Establish metrics for evaluating student satisfaction, wellbeing, and engagement across all aspects of campus life.
• Advise the Deputy Provost Student Affairs on emerging student needs and wellbeing trends, proposing initiatives to address them.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Services

• Lead and manage the university's mental health and wellbeing programs, ensuring the availability of high-quality services to support students' psychological and emotional needs.
• Oversee the provision of individual counseling, crisis intervention, mental health screenings, and workshops for students to promote mental wellbeing.
• Develop and promote programs that raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and encourage help-seeking behavior.
• Establish partnerships with external mental health professionals and institutions to provide specialized support when necessary.
• Ensure that mental health services are accessible, confidential, and responsive to the diverse needs of the student body.

Student Life Programs and Engagement

• Oversee the development and execution of student life programs, including student clubs, cultural events, leadership development, and co-curricular activities that enhance students' social experiences and engagement on campus.
• Promote a sense of community among students by fostering participation in events, student organizations, and peer support networks.
• Support the creation of inclusive spaces and initiatives that cater to the diverse interests and backgrounds of students.
• Work closely with students to identify needs, concerns, and suggestions for improving student life on campus.

Holistic Student Development

• Ensure the integration of mental health and wellbeing programs into the broader framework of student development, including academic support, career development, and extracurricular activities.
• Promote initiatives that enhance students' personal growth, resilience, and coping strategies, preparing them to navigate the challenges of academic life and beyond
• Support student leaders and student-led initiatives that contribute to a healthy campus culture and student well-being.

Training and Capacity Building

• Develop and deliver training programs for faculty, staff, and student leaders on topics related to mental health, student wellbeing, and supportive interventions.
• Equip campus stakeholders with the knowledge and skills to identify early signs of mental health issues and support students in need of assistance.
• Ensure that residential life staff and student services are trained in mental health awareness and are equipped to manage student wellbeing concerns in the dormitories and beyond.

Administrative Duties

• Manage the budget and resources for student life and mental wellbeing services, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on student wellbeing initiatives, metrics, and student satisfaction to the Deputy Provost Student Affairs.
• Ensure that all student life and wellbeing services are properly documented and that appropriate records are maintained.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of 8 10 years of experience in student affairs, mental health services, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing student wellbeing, mental health, or student life services.
• Experience in developing and implementing mental health programs in a higher education environment, preferably within an international or diverse academic setting
• Experience in policy development, student engagement, and program evaluation related to student life and mental wellbeing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex and sensitive situations, including crisis intervention and support.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to engage with diverse student populations and work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
• Knowledge of relevant UAE regulations, mental health laws, and international standards related to student wellbeing is preferred.
