Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for assembling, welding, and repairing metal components using various welding techniques. This role ensures all work meets industry standards, engineering specifications, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, attention to detail, and experience working with metals in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols. Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick, flux-core, etc.). Weld and fabricate metal components, structures, and assemblies according to specifications. Inspect finished welds for quality, precision, and adherence to company and industry standards. Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, beveling, or fitting components before welding. Conduct repairs on metal parts, machinery, and structural elements. Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area. Perform routine maintenance on tools and welding machinery. Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and fabrication teams to meet production goals.

Qualifications

High school diploma or technical trade certificate (preferred). Certified Welder (CWB, AWS, or equivalent) is an asset. 1-3+ years of welding experience in the metal industry (fabrication or manufacturing). Strong knowledge of MIG/TIG/Stick welding processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements. Knowledge of metal types (steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.). Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and metal fabrication machinery.

Skills

Strong attention to detail and precision. Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Understanding of workplace safety and welding best practices.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift materials up to [X] kg. Comfortable standing, bending, and working in various positions for extended periods. Ability to work in environments with heat, sparks, and noise (PPE provided).
