JOB PURPOSE:

We are seeking a highly motivated, technically strong, and talented UAE National to join our organization as the Vice President of Non-Financial Risk.

This position is part of our commitment to the development and grooming of local talent for leadership functional roles within the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) domain of Group Risk Management.

The successful candidate will be placed and in various NFR teams/units on a rotation over 3 years, where they will gain exposure to different aspects of non-financial risk management, develop their skills, gain experience, and prepare for a functional leadership role within the group risk organization.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Rotation through NFR Teams: The position holder will participate in a rotation program, working in various NFR teams such as operational risk, fraud risk, data governance, information security, enterprise risk and model risk. This rotation will provide a comprehensive and rounded understanding of non-financial risk management.
  • Risk Assessment and Analysis: Collaborate with NFR teams to identify, assess, and analyse non-financial risks within the organization. Conduct risk assessments, root cause analysis, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
  • Policy and Framework Development: Assist in the development and enhancement of non-financial risk policies, procedures, and frameworks. Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and report on key non-financial risk indicators and metrics to senior management and the board of directors. Prepare regular risk reports and provide insights into risk trends and emerging issues.
  • Regulatory and Audit Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory and audit engagements related to non-financial risk. Coordinate responses to inquiries and findings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training and development programs to build expertise in non-financial risk management. Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on risk-related matters.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders across the organization to promote a strong risk culture and facilitate risk awareness. Engage with external stakeholders, regulators, and industry peers as needed.
  • Leadership Preparation: As part of the career development plan, the job holder will receive mentorship and coaching to prepare for future functional leadership roles within the organization.
  • Strategic Contribution: Ensure effective cascading of the functional strategy into department business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.
  • Reporting: Ensure that the function prepares reports timely and accurately meeting FAB requirements, policies, and quality standards.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification
  • A bachelor\'s degree in quantitative field (computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, economics) or similar field.
  • A relevant master\'s degree is preferred.
  • Relevant professional certifications e.g., CFA, FRM, etc. are preferred.
Minimum Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in risk management within the banking, financial services, or consulting industry.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing people is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in change management project lead/execution.
  • Experience in risk technology/systems
Competencies
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and risk management software/tools.
  • Knowledge of local and international regulatory requirements related to non-financial risk is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to learning and professional growth.
