Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Manage all well drilling and completion activities for unconventionals in line with the business objectives. Manage all planning, contracts, logistics, personnel are in place for safe and efficient execution of the overall program. Ensure a successful scale up of unconventional well delivery and drive cost improvements based on continuous learnings and international experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Manage the planning and execution of all Unconventionals well drilling, completion, and workover activity in line with the business plan.
  • Develop short-term and long-term wells drilling and completion programs to meet timely well delivery objectives.
  • Lead the development of fit-for-purpose operating policies and guidelines for unconventional drilling and completions activities in-line with the industry globally recognized standards and guidelines for unconventional plays.
  • Manage the availability of equipment and crew for drilling, fracking and workover based on integrated activity plans, while ensuring effective utilization of resources and budget.
  • Develop and manage the drilling and completion annual and quarterly budgets in line with the function business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to drilling and completion teams ensuring all activities are conducted in safe and efficient manner, following ADNOC HSE policies and guidelines.
  • Provide oversight to unconventional drilling and completion operations, with clear focus on performance objectives including efficiency improvement, wells delivery timelines, and budget control.
  • Provide oversight to all contracts related to drilling and completions and support ADNOC Drilling in managing contractor performance.
  • Accountable for all drilling and completions matters in technical committees, operating committees, JV and industry forums.
  • Ensure best practices from North America unconventionals are brought forward and applied in UAE, to help accelerate the cost learning curve.
  • Define wells drilling and completions activities KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and follow them rigorously utilizing frequent performance evaluation meetings, after action reviews and continuous improvement plans.
  • Liaise closely with ADNOC JV partners on their well programs and ensure any learnings from JV Partners are incorporated into ADNOC plans.
Generic Accountabilities

Operational Plans
  • Develop consistent and realistic long- and short-term operational plans for the Division in line with the Function objectives and manage the implementation of approved long and short term plans and ensure they are effectively converted into its performance objectives to achieve established service levels.
Budgets & Cost Control
  • Develop and manage the Division annual budget in line with the Function\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives and operational plans ensuring that adequate funding provision is made for all Division activities.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved Division budget on a regular basis; investigate, highlight and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Develop and implement appropriate Division policies, processes, systems, standards, procedures and internal controls, Company guidelines in order to support execution of the Directorate\xe2\x80\x99s work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
  • Contribute to the development of the Directorate\xe2\x80\x99s KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and ensure proper cascade of the Performance objectives within the Division and establish monitoring mechanisms to ensure delivery of these objectives and promote a performance driven culture.
  • Manage the implementation of the Company Performance Management System for individuals within the Division in accordance with Company approved guidelines.
People Development
  • Develop knowledge, competencies and innovative spirit in the Division and support the establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDP\xe2\x80\x99s), Succession Planning and Talent pipeline within the Division in coordination with relevant Human Capital Functions to continuously develop employees with emphasis on UAE Nationals to meet Emiratization targets.
Organisation Structure and Development
  • Review, develop and recommend the appropriate organisation structure for the Division that will best utilise human capital while proactively incorporating sustainability into the on-going work practices to meet the business objectives.
Risk Management
  • Contribute and support establishment of a Corporate Integrated Risk Management System within the Division, while identifying and assessing relevant domain risks and implement measures to manage and mitigate all identified risks within the Division.
  • Communicate corporate business ethics and Company\xe2\x80\x99s Code of Conduct to employees within the Division and ensure compliance to the Corporate Policies and guidelines.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
  • Promote an organisation culture that encourages innovation, enhances employee motivation and supports initiatives for implementation of Change Management to continuously improve the Division operations and services.
  • Recommend improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with approved standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the Division.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
  • Support the institution and implementation of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, systems & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the Division in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
  • Ensure adequate HSE training and induction for all Division employees to meet HSE standards.
Management Information Systems (MIS) and Reports
  • Ensure that all Division MIS and progress reports are prepared to provide accurate and timely reports and necessary information to Company Management to effectively manage the business.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal
  • Daily interactions with staff within the division and directorate at all levels regarding project work planning and execution.
  • Ensure continual multi-disciplinary work and effective communication from the drilling and completion team with geoscience, development team and field operations for wells activities.
  • Regular contacts with Director Upstream and occasional contacts with other ADNOC Senior Management in matters related to Planning and reporting.
External
  • Frequent contacts up to the level of managers from Group / SPC companies and ISHs and IOCs on joint studies or exploration projects carried out by these companies.
  • Occasional contacts with consultants and contractors on projects carried out for ADNOC.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 20 years of experience, covering all aspects of well delivery, including drilling, completions, and workover operations.
  • 10 years in unconventionals, including in a management capacity.
