Job Summary:

Zabeel Veterinary Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate

Veterinary Technician

to join our dedicated medical team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care, assist in diagnostic and surgical procedures, perform laboratory testing, and support clinical and administrative duties to ensure the highest standards of patient care and client service.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Clinical Support

Monitor and observe the health and behavior of inpatients. Record detailed observations, including body composition, excretions, feeding responses, and signs of illness. Administer treatments (injections, medications, fluid therapy, wound care) as prescribed by veterinarians. Participate in daily clinical rounds with veterinary staff. Provide patient updates and health information to clients. Assist in diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound).

Emergency & On-Call Duties

Rotate in covering after-hours emergency cases (phone and hospital attendance). Respond to health-related inquiries and determine emergency care needs. Participate in a shared emergency duty rota (evenings, weekends, holidays).

Laboratory & Pharmacy

Perform diagnostic laboratory tests and maintain accurate lab records. Collect, label, and prepare specimens properly. Maintain and calibrate lab equipment. Assist with pharmacy orders, stocktaking, and medication inventory.

Surgical & Procedural Assistance

Prepare surgical suite, equipment, and instruments. Assist in surgical procedures and dental scaling. Ensure patient safety and comfort during and after procedures.

Client & Team Communication

Communicate effectively with clients, veterinarians, and staff. Educate pet owners on care, feeding, hygiene, medication, and recovery protocols. Ensure informed consent for procedures and social media content.

Facility & Inventory Maintenance

Restock consultation rooms, surgical areas, and hospital supplies. Promote infection control and hygiene protocols. Maintain a safe and organized clinical environment.

Working Conditions:

Work Hours:

Up to 48 hours per week, typically 8-hour shifts over 5 days.

Shifts:

Rotating shifts between 7 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week.

Days Off:

2 per week (not fixed to weekends).

On-Call Duty:

Required on a rotating basis.

Qualifications & Skills:

Diploma or degree in Veterinary Technology or related field. Proven experience as a veterinary technician or nurse. Strong knowledge of animal health, diagnostics, and treatment protocols. Proficiency in handling medical equipment and performing lab work. Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Passion for animal welfare and team collaboration.
