Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the health status of all flock categories (chicks, growers, breeders & products), including daily monitoring and analysis of vital health indicators.
- Diagnose veterinary diseases accurately and collaborate with the management to deliver effective treatment plans.
- Design, implement, and manage preventive health programs (vaccination schedules, disinfection, parasite control) in coordination with management and subject to approval.
- Manage the use of veterinary medicines and vaccines, emphasizing natural remedies as alternatives to antibiotics. Ensure proper storage, responsible usage, and full compliance with drug withdrawal periods.
- Conduct ante-mortem and post-mortem meat inspections and issue related health certificates.
- Prepare and issue health certificates for all flock age groups, complying with regulatory requirements.
- Supervise humane culling and disposal of mortalities, ensuring adherence to animal welfare and biosecurity standards. Maintain detailed reports on causes of death and culling actions to support informed decisions and continuous improvement.
- Enforce biosecurity measures and maintain hygiene standards across all farm facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Develop and monitor pest control programs targeting parasites, insects, and rodents.
- Maintain overall farm cleanliness and sanitation to support a disease-free environment.
- Maintained accurate health records and generated detailed technical reports regularly.
- Train farm personnel on animal health protocols, occupational safety, and disease prevention.
- Participate in strategic health planning with management and oversee the implementation of health-related initiatives.
- Monitor veterinary service performance and provide periodic evaluations to management.
- Lead continuous improvement of veterinary processes using quality management methodologies.
- Ensure full compliance with UAE , health, and safety regulations and standards.
- Uphold the farm's strategic goals while maintaining strict confidentiality of operational and technical information.
- Prepare and manage quarterly, semi-annual, and annual veterinary health budgets to ensure effective resource allocation.
Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in animal health management within ostrich farming operations,
or minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in poultry farming, preferably within layer production systems.
