Description

The UX Designer will be responsible for ensuring the user-centricity of digital product development, ideating, planning, testing, and iterating on digital product features that help fulfill the Digital team's vision of connecting supporters, donors and fundraisers to St. Jude through engaging and inspiring digital experiences. A member of the User Experience Design team, you will work in an Agile product development environment, collaborating with product owners, scrum masters, UI developers, analysts, content strategists, and business stakeholders to connect our work with the users we serve, via research, usability testing, user-centered design, and design thinking practices. The UX Designer will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.As an advocate for the user, the UX Designer will partner with the product owner to diagnose, prioritize, and solve problems proactively. This will be accomplished by such means as information architecture, concept models, personas, usability reports, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and other artifacts of the user-centered design process. You will lead comprehensive user research and usability testing, identifying opportunities for improvement in the short and long term. You will play a key role in nurturing and promoting the user experience and design practice within the scrum team and across our digital platforms.Job PurposeThe role of the UX Designer is to communicate how audience needs, organizational goals, and technology can work together to create an optimal user experience. Employing qualitative and quantitative research, you will help business stakeholders and scrum team members align around the product vision, product roadmap, and product optimizations that bridge business goals and user needs. Essential Job FunctionsApply business discovery, user research, and competitive analysis to devise digital strategies that bridge business goals and user needs.Partner with UX content strategists, UX designers and UI developers to express the user experience as wireframes, process maps, prototypes, user flows, and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience and validate design solutions.Share in the facilitation of user-centered design workshops to build empathy with user audiences, understand business objectives, identify user needs, and collaboratively ideate digital solutions and features.Plan and facilitate design research, including user testing, A/B/n testing, and data analysis from our customer relationship management and web analytics tools. Gain a deep understanding of user motivations, business objectives, market opportunities and competition.Coordinate with the product owner to ensure we are continually delivering on the strategic product roadmap, working with team members across disciplines to ensure that everyone has a clear picture of the product vision and is meeting both business and users' objectives. Consults with our design, engineering and quality assurance teams to establish a baseline for designing, building and measuring our digital properties to ensure they are accessible and Section 508 compliant.Communicate often and build strong working relationships with co-workers across Digital, Marketing, and Fundraising business partners.JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum (3) three years relevant work experience preferably on large, complex sites or equivalent, including experience in the role of user experience designer, information architect, product designer, usability analyst or user researcherExperience working on an enterprise Agile scrum team Experience conducting user research including activities such as online surveys, usability testing, focus groups, user observation and field researchKnowledge of user interface design processes and methodology, user-centered design principles and practicesExperience with mockup and prototyping tools such as Sketch, InVision, Visio, OmniGraffle, Balsamiq, Axure or Adobe Creative SuiteStrong conceptual and strategic thinking skills Understanding of Internet software engineering principles and techniques; familiarity with HTML authoring and web infrastructureAbility to interact well with team members and business users; excellent project management skills and excellent written and verbal communications skillsBachelor's degree in human-computer interaction, computer science, cognitive psychology, library science, industrial design, user experience design, graphic design or equivalent experience in related field requiredBenefits & PerksWe're dedicated to ensuring children and their families have every opportunity to enjoy life's special moments.
