You bridge the gap between product managers, engineers, and designers by leading the team to help understand requirements and translate them into convincing design as well as providing concrete user research data.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities Managing a team of UI/UX designers
- Manage a team of UI/UX designers and UX researcher: distributing work, coaching designers through complex design problems, reviewing and ensuring the quality of the final deliverables and handling any interpersonal issues that arise.
- Cultivate a positive work environment for the UI/UX team. Encourage healthy design critiques and debate, communication and collaboration, and data-centered way of working.
- Handle operation of the team including interviewing and recruiting, onboarding new members, managing the licenses of the work software, validating the work time of the contractors and handling paperwork and process for finance and procurement related issues etc.
- Drive the continuous improvement of the process and UX maturity of the organization. This includes personally leading the initiatives but also encouraging your team members to take ownership and supporting them to create positive impacts.
- Leading key design projects, end-to-end, with a team but also doing hands-on design/research work.
- Work closely with senior leadership of the product team and represent the voice of Design. Support the product road mapping from the perspective of user experience and ensure the requirements and priorities are well structured for the design team to work with.
- Foster relationships and collaboration with stakeholders from education/content, marketing in terms of branding and instructional design, and client experience team for better knowledge of users
Education, Experience and Required Skills Educational Qualification
- Bachelor/master’s degree in human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design or other related fields
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- A UI/UX expert with a proven track of hands-on experience in user research, interaction design and UI design.
- An inspirational leader. You can give effective direction and feedback to designers and researchers and foster meaningful and productive cross-functional relationships.
- You’ve shipped successful consumer products over the years and have a clear strategy to build an awesome user experience.
- You have extensive experience working closely with product managers, engineers as well as business or content stakeholders.
- Great communication skills and can express your thoughts well in English
- Great prioritization and time management skills, alongside experience working with agile methodologies.
- EdTech experience is a plus.
