Job Description
To identify and analyse native and invasive species of flora and fauna and identify and review geomorphological/ infrastructure features all within a digitised biodiversity assessment to be delivered within a set period to meet project/customer contractual terms. Requirements
- Data input from digitally created biodiversity assessments.
- Quality check of data from biodiversity assessments.
- Identification of native and exotic flora and fauna species.
- Identification of geomorphological features on a site-by-site basis via digital site assessment.
- Statistical analysis of distribution and diversity of species on site and landscape features.
- Identification and mapping of vegetation communities via digital site assessment.
- Assist in research and development of internal products i.e., fauna/flora updates, GIS systems, machine learning.
- Base knowledge of GIS systems and their use.
- Support Senior Field Ecologists in executing Field work on deployment, if interested and if available for periods of up to 10 days remotely.
- Identification of genus and species with flora and fauna within a set deliverable period.
- Reporting to supervisor for key site-specific allocation and deliverables of data within tight time constraints.
- Undergraduate or graduate in Environmental Science / Biology / Ecology / Forest Science / Geology or any similar background.
- Understanding and/or experience of base ecosystems and/or woodland environments.
- Ability to identify different botanical species from ground and aerial photographs.
- Knowledge of characterisation of species and survey inventories (preferred)
- Some GIS background utilising spatial reference systems and/or desktop analysis of digital imagery/maps (preferred).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Arabic would be preferable.
- Right to work in the UAE.
