Typhoon Mechanical/Electrical Shop Superintendent Grade: 5 Location: Taif, Saudi Arabia JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. The Job Holder is responsible to the Deputy Depth Support Manager as the Typhoon Mechanical & Electrical Superintendent for the management of all engineering activities within the following workshops:-

Wheel & Tyre Shop Air Electrical Shop Aircraft Battery Shop Powered AGE Shop Non-Powered AGE Shop Oxygen Shop External Fuel Tank Shop Precision Termination Tooling Shop Test and Measuring Equipment and Calibration Shop The role includes responsibility for all tasks related to the safe operation and continued mobilisation of the workshops and the personnel operating within the workshops to ensure that the associated depth support activities, whether planned maintenance actions or unscheduled arising are progressed to support the operational needs of the Squadron. These will be in accordance with the RSAF Typhoon maintenance policy, relevant publications and the BAE Systems Maintenance Organisation Exposition. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Ensure the good order, morale, discipline and welfare of all personnel under their command. Ensure that all personnel comply with orders relating to safety precautions, engineering and maintenance principles with associated documentation (electronic) procedures. Ensure adherence to correct engineering practices, observe safety precautions and that as far as is reasonably practicable ensure that no one else is exposed to any unnecessary or uncontrolled risk. Identify any practice, procedure or system that is a threat to safety or quality. Ensure the working environment is free from all forms of harassment and discrimination and take appropriate action to deal with perpetrators. Nominating personnel for specialist trade courses. Ensure that all electronic data systems are utilised correctly within process and adhere to operating procedures. Being Point of Contact for all aspects within their area of responsibility for Depth maintenance activities. Liaise with the Training Manager and co-ordinate RSAF OJT and consolidation training statistics Act as the PoC within their area of responsibility for any HR guidance (discipline, grievance etc); Monitoring sickness iaw the Sickness Absence Policy and carrying out return to work interviews; Maintain the Depth leave database and process leave applications within their area of responsibility ensuring strict adherence to the company Leave Policy. Maintain a register for Local Leave and Own Expense requests and process to HR Riyadh Maintain the Depth Authorisations Database and ensure all personnel are certified/re-certified within the required timescales. Monitoring of Technical Queries and subsequent resolution. Ensure that the equipment operated with the shop is kept in good working condition and any necessary calibration activities are scheduled and conducted to ensure maintenance tasks can be carried out when required. Identifying and instigating additional shop capability to support the operation. Ensure high standards of shop husbandry are observed and maintained. Complying with Health and Safety including, knowledge of COSHH and Risk assessments and following appropriate safety precautions and warning posters relating to the maintenance activities and handling within the shop area of operation. Responsible as the QA co-ordinator for the Depth organisation. Welfare and discipline of all assigned PC staff under their control in conjunction with other Management and Supervisory staff. Completing any other reasonable duties or requests that are made by line management. Counterpart development of assigned RSAF personnel. Deputising for the Deputy Depth Support Manager during periods of leave/absence. RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION Essential Must be educated to HND level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training. Must have completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship in industry/military or similar qualification in aircraft systems. Must have extensive proven post qualification experience of military fast jet maintenance support, at Senior Supervisor/Manager level within an operational military flying environment and proven ability to manage all levels of engineering personnel. High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a number of activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making. Thorough understanding of company processes and procedures and industry knowledge. An understanding of RAF and /or RSAF engineering operating procedures. The ability to act upon their own initiative within the scope of their job. A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail. A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality. Desirable An understanding of ESS or similar electronic based reporting system. RECRUITMENT The post holder will have the following background: Proven Managerial experience within the aerospace industry preferably gained on 3rd and/or 4th Generation military aircraft. Experience of working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country preferred. The ability to act upon their own initiative within the scope of their job. A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail. A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality. Previous experience of mobilising engineering support to operational squadrons would be an advantage.
