Typhoon Maintenance Operations Controller Grade: 6 Location: Taif, Saudi Arabia JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government's nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons. The job holder is responsible to represent the AGF Maintenance Organisation in the Squadron Operations environment; providing day-to-day, minute-by-minute liaison between the Aircrew and Rects and Line Control. Being familiar with all work undertaken on the AGF in order to ensure that continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities on Typhoon aircraft are carried out in accordance with BAE Systems Saudi Arabia SALAM Maintenance Organisation Exposition and associated Quality Management System. Ensuring through Quality Assurance that the level and depth of rectification maintenance carried out will meet the Customer's requirements, if necessary rejecting aircraft before declaring the serviceable fleet at the morning Met brief. Constant monitoring of the required flying rate against the achieved flying rate and where necessary convincing the Squadron Cmdr into flying Operational Add On sorties to recover or maintain the contracted line. The job holder will supervise Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) pilots and ground crew. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES Ensuring that all continuing airworthiness and maintenance activities conducted within their Area of Responsibility are carried out in accordance with current processes and procedures by appropriately authorised, qualified and experienced personnel. Ensuring that all personnel engaged in activities in their Area of Responsibility follow the correct practices and observe safety precautions thereby complying with the requirements and limitations detailed in the Salam Support Safety Case Report and that as far as is reasonably practicable ensuring that no one is exposed to any unnecessary or uncontrolled risk. Ensure that the Safety Management Systems and Maintenance Error Management Systems are understood by staff under your direction. Managing the needs and expectations of the Squadron's pilots, including the Sqn Cmdr, on a daily basis. Thus ensuring they are always aware of Fleet Management issues, Aircraft Mission Capability implications and Forward Maintenance restrictions that may otherwise adversely affect the flying programme or company contracted targets. Tasking AGF engineers, via the rectification controllers, to carry out changes to the configuration or role of the Sqn aircraft as and when requested by the customer. Compiling and maintaining aircraft statistics for Flying Hours, Airframe Usage and Ground Aborts for presentation at the request of Maintenance Managers, Fleet Managers, the DISC and Sqn Operations for the daily Service Performance Producing and presenting the daily engineering brief. This is to include thorough research of maintenance activities with regards to all aircraft reported faults from the previous day's flying and then presenting the brief to the Sqn Cmdr and Pilots at the morning Met Brief. Managing and controlling the aircrew Technical Queries Database in conjunction with the Typhoon Support Centre (TSC). Thus ensuring that all Tech Queries are monitored and answered promptly to the customer's satisfaction. Debriefing pilots post mission and compiling trend analysis data on various aircraft systems and presenting the results to the TSC and Sqn maintenance to aid rectification fault diagnosis. Presenting technical systems briefs, formally and informally, to the Sqn pilots as and when requested. Liaising with the TSC and other agencies on all relevant Typhoon technical issues on behalf of the Sqn Cdr and reporting back with their findings. Undertaking any aircraft related projects tasked by the Sqn Cdr, such as aiding Unit Inquiries post aircraft incidents. Informing aircrew of aircraft serviceability states, flying requirements and limitations, locations and forecasts for completion of aircraft maintenance. Ensuring that the daily and weekly flying programmes are entered on ESS. Ensuring that the Flight Line Controller is fully aware of the following: Crew walk times. Take-off / Landing times. Any requirements for land away checks. Any other special requirements (Weather) Crew in faults / Hit Team Red balls. End of Runway (EOR). Any emergency states. Ensuring that AGF Rectification Control and Line Control are immediately informed of any flying program changes. Supervising pilots when signing out aircraft on ESS prior to their mission. Acting as an information interface, relaying relevant information between AGF and Typhoon Ops. Acting as central point of contact for personnel involved in the recovery of Aircraft away from base. Formulating and delivering a plan of training to designated Saudi counterparts in order for them to carry out the Eng Ops Ctlrs duties on future Typhoon Sqn's. Ensuring that all personnel engaged in activities within areas under your control follow the correct engineering practices, observe safety precautions and that, no one is, as far as is reasonably practicable, exposed to any unnecessary or uncontrolled risk. Maintaining the AGF Eng Ops Management / Configuration board. RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION Essential Proven supervisory ability in a high-tempo aircraft maintenance delivery environment. Must be educated to HNC level or recognised equivalent or have relevant experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training. Must have successfully completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship or similar practical aircraft maintenance training programme delivered by a NATO air force or approved aircraft maintenance training provider. Extensive proven qualification experience of military fast jet maintenance support, at a certifying position. Extensive experience working as a Line or Rects Controller on a fast jet. RECRUITMENT The post holder should have the following background: Currently working in an aircraft maintenance organisation conducting or supporting Line (Forward) Maintenance of military fast-jets (Typhoon preferred). Proven track record supervising technicians and associated resources at senior supervisor level, maintaining military fast jet aircraft (Typhoon preferred). Excellent man-management and communications competencies. Management experience with proven ability to manage engineering personnel. High level of interpersonal skill to co-ordinate a large number of diverse and complex activities and the ability to communicate, influence and direct the decision making process at all levels. Experience of multi-tasking to manage a diverse range of engineering and management activities. Demonstrable experience working with aircrew and maintainers on a busy, military operational flying unit. Fully conversant with European Aviation Safety Agency aircraft maintenance regulations or military equivalents such as UK MoD Defence Standard 05-130. Experience working in a NATO air force maintaining all systems on military aircraft.
