The Tower Crane & Hoist Supervisor is responsible for supervising the safe, efficient, and compliant operation, installation, dismantling, and maintenance of all tower cranes and hoists at the project site. The role ensures coordination with site teams and contractors, enforces strict adherence to safety standards, and guarantees proper documentation and inspection protocols are followed.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise daily operations and activities related to tower cranes and hoists across the site.
Ensure cranes and hoists are installed, maintained, and operated as per manufacturer's guidelines, site method statements, and safety standards.
Coordinate with lifting teams, riggers, and operators to plan safe lifting operations and minimize downtime.
Monitor load charts, radius limits, and safe working loads; prevent misuse of lifting equipment.
Schedule and supervise third-party inspections, load testing, and certifications in compliance with local authorities (DM, ADM, etc.).
Conduct daily and weekly inspections; maintain detailed checklists and logs for all equipment.
Implement and monitor site-specific Permit to Work (PTW) systems for all crane and hoist operations.
Investigate and report incidents, near misses, or malfunctions related to lifting operations.
Liaise with the HSE team to conduct toolbox talks and ensure lifting plans are in place before operations.
Coordinate with subcontractors, plant department, and equipment vendors to ensure timely support and compliance.
Maintain an inventory of spare parts, monitor fuel usage, and ensure timely preventive maintenance.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Mechanical / Civil / Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in construction projects with tower cranes and hoists.
Valid UAE certification/license (if applicable) for tower crane supervision or lifting supervision.
Strong knowledge of lifting plans, load charts, method statements, risk assessments, and relevant local authority requirements.
Experience working with multinational construction contractors is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and site coordination skills.
Excellent understanding of crane and hoist mechanical and electrical systems.
Clear knowledge of HSE regulations and lifting operation safety standards (LOLER, OSHA, etc.).
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and lifting plans.
Proficient in report writing and daily activity logging.
