Day-to-day responsibility for, or provide support on, projects that generate new products, processes and understanding of commercial value to JM. Contributes to the improvement of the team or processes within JM.Job purposeAs a Senior Technical Service Engineer, the role holder will be required to work independently (with support from other regional technical service engineers) as the key point of contact providing technical expertise and advice to customers across the region within the Hydrogen and Refinery Purification business, and has the opportunity to expand their proficiency to other CT technologies. They will apply technical understanding and knowledge of the CT product portfolio to solve a range of problems, from simple troubleshooting to complex projects. They will be the technical face of the CT organisation, both liaising with customers remotely and travelling to meet with regional customers in person.Principal accountabilitiesProvide technical service to customers through direct customer support in standard and non-standard situations. This includes preparing technical proposals, performance evaluations, troubleshooting, and responding to customer inquiries. Build and maintain effective partnerships with customers in an ethical and safe mannerAct as the voice of the customer to feed technical and market information back into the business to enable JM to enhance product offeringEngage in customer visits including technical meetings and plant auditsWork flexibly to ensure that changing work demands are prioritised and adequately supportedOwn tasks, ensuring they are completed within time constraintsHandle complex technical support issues related to the plant and catalyst both proactively and in response to "emergencies" aimed at delivering long-term value for JM and the customerLiaise with the wider Technical Service team (Service Coordination, TS-SME team) and Sales colleagues to ensure that work requirements are fulfilled in a timely mannerProvide technical guidance to less experienced colleaguesActively look to build proficiency beyond own core technology within CT technical scopeAssist the Sales organization with technical evaluationsInitiate suggestions for improvements and development tasks to be performedExtract maximum value from the segmented customer base through developing and deploying the appropriate level of technical servicesEnsure all activities are undertaken in accordance with JM code of ethics and EHS policy and practicesCarry out other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.Travel to customer plant sites to act as JM supervisor during catalyst changeouts, reductions, and start-upsRole involves up to 40% travel to customer offices and plants, including occasional night shifts supervision at customer plant sites.Qualifications/ knowledge/ experience(Technical/ professional knowledge and skills competency)Degree in a scientific/technical discipline (Chemical Engineering preferred)Solid knowledge of Syngas flowsheets and syngas and refinery purification catalystsEstablished knowledge and experience in supporting customers with onsite support work including changeouts, reductions, and startupSignificant customer-facing experienceStrong understanding of customers' business and production processAbility to drive changeProficient written and spoken English communication skillsExperience defining best practice processesStrong IT and computing skillsStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenCapable of working independently to deliver business critical objectivesConfident public speaker
