Job Description

Job Purpose: To manage the effective operation of Engineering digital documentation management system, co-ordinating with all stakeholders in order to meet Engineering and Flight Operation documentation requirements and drive improvements on a continuous basis. To organise the Technical Publications Centre (TPC) to support the operation and maintenance of Emirates aircraft and ensure the highest standards of technical publications in compliance with company and regulatory requirements, yet minimising the cost. Job Outline: - To manage the digital production of Airbus and Boeing aircraft maintenance documentation using the Documentation Management System (e.g. ADOC) and to co-ordinate with vendor, IT and Engineering Systems to meet the internal customer documentation requirements. - To liaise with GIT, Engineering Systems and aircraft/engine manufacturers in order to obtain a high level of technical support for all digital documentation systems at all times. To obtain regular feedback from all documentation stakeholders in Engineering and Flight Operations regarding the technical publications improvements required. - To organise the Web publishing activities of Technical Publications Centre and to monitor the electronic and paper documentation production and distribution of aircraft, vendors and in-house technical publications to internal and external customers in Engineering and Flight Operations. - To specify the technical publications requirements related to Emirates aircraft and engine purchase contracts, supplemental type certification projects and to liaise with Procurement, Technical Services and Contract Management sections as well as with documentation supplier in order to ensure that the Emirates technical documentation requirements are met. - To develop procedures for Technical Publications Centre to ensure that UAE GCAA, EASA, FAA, IOSA and ISO approvals held by Engineering department remain current regarding the requirements of approved maintenance and operation technical data for Emirates and Third Party aircraft. - To co-ordinate and direct the research of technical information for aircraft operation and maintenance and to administer the process of revision and control of all documents issued by aircraft manufacturers, vendors and internal departments in order to ensure that the documentation used by Engineering and Flight Operations? users is accurate and up to date. - To prepare and support the specifications for integration of aircraft, engine, vendor and in-house digital data into Document Management System (e.g ADOC, IFS) and to outline the interface requirements related to the electronic update of documentation on-board and on-ground for future documentation systems. - To develop the manpower resource within the Technical Publications Centre and to provide performance assessments, advice, direction and coaching to all TPC staff, with a view to meet the Emirates Engineering development plans and to follow the changes in technology. - To evaluate and forecast Technical Publications Centre expenditure requirements and to prepare annual budget for the section with a focus on minimising costs and improving working processes and documentation deliverables. - To analyse the TPC Key Performance Indicators reports as well as self-audits, internal and external audits? reports related to operational and maintenance documentation distributed/ published by TPC and to establish documentation process improvements as required.
Qualifications & Experience: Engineering Technical Record / Library : 8+ Years Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) : Degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering or Aviation related subject. Experience in the airline industry of which five years must have been in the management and production of technical publications preferably in an airline or aircraft maintenance and repair organisation. Knowledge/skills: Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Document Management Systems, SGML, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft SharePoint. Thorough understanding of UAE, GCAA, EASA, FAA, IOSA, Airworthiness Regulatory requirements and control procedures related to Engineering and Flight Operations documentation Knowledge of the ISO 9001 Quality principles and documentation control.
