Job Description

To lead and manage all technical aspects related to aluminium facade, curtain walls, and cladding systems on major construction or facade projects. Ensure designs, fabrication, installation, and site execution meet safety, aesthetics, performance, compliance and cost requirements. The ideal candidate must meet the following criteria:

Key Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering / Architectural Engineering (or related).

Relevant certifications

preferred (e.g. facade engineering, glazing systems, finishing treatments). Minimum

10-12 years

of experience in aluminium facade / curtain wall / cladding systems, of which several years in a managerial or leadership technical role (site and design). Strong experience in both design (drawings, structural / wind / thermal load calculations) and site execution / installation. Proficiency in software tools: AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), structural analysis tools (STAAD Pro, SAP2000, or similar), modelling tools, detailing software. Understanding of finishes, coatings, glazing, weather sealing, anchors, joints, sealants, etc. Good knowledge of international facade performance standards (wind load, water tightness, air leakage, thermal bridging), local building codes (for Qatar / GCC). Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work under pressure and multi-task across several projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technical design, shop drawings, structural calculations, and engineering analyses for aluminium, curtain wall, cladding, glazing, skylights, louvers, ACP (aluminium composite panels), etc. Review architectural and structural drawings; interface with architects, structural engineers, consultants to ensure alignment of design intent, load-paths, deflection, thermal performance, water & air tightness, etc. Develop and approve method statements, material submittals, test plans (wind load, water infiltration, thermal, acoustic), and quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) protocols. Oversight of fabrication & manufacturing: ensure material quality, correct finishes, tolerances, compliance with surface treatments, anodizing / powder coating, etc. Supervise and coordinate installation works on site: scheduling, inspection, control of workmanship, handling non-conformities or site issues. Manage technical team: facade engineers, designers, site technical staff, liaison with procurement & vendors. Ensure compliance with relevant international standards (e.g. EN, ASTM, BS), local building codes & regulations, health & safety standards, sustainability / energy performance requirements. Cost control: reviewing BOQs, materials costs, optimizing design for cost and performance, value engineering where needed. Documentation: maintain records of drawings, calculations, test reports, site inspection logs, as-built drawings. Provide technical support during project lifecycle: from tendering stage, through construction, to handover. Resolve technical issues, RFI's, variations. Keep up to date with new materials, system technologies, facade engineering trends, industry best practices.
