Job Purpose: The Primary Computing Teacher role at Yasmina British Academy is pivotal in driving the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning practices. Candidates should possess strong teaching skills, a passion for digital technology in education, effective communication, and an openness to learning in the rapidly evolving field of educational technology. Candidates should also have knowledge and experience in integrating digital tools across various subject areas to enhance cross-curricular learning experiences. Eg. Programming, robotics, media design, computer networks, data handling and internet safety. Responsibilities:
  • To embody the values, vision and ethos of Yasmina British Academy and lead in delivering policy to ensure high quality and successful outcomes for all students.
  • Teach the primary computing curriculum from Nursery to Year 6, ensuring comprehensive coverage and effective delivery of key concepts and skills.
  • Assist in the implementation of new hardware and software technologies within the school, such as Aldar\xe2\x80\x99s Digital Transformation Strategy.
  • Meet regularly with the EdTech Coach to discuss progress, challenges and professional development goals.
  • Participate in technology trials to assess and evaluate cutting-edge educational technologies.
  • Train and prepare teams to participate in various technology-based competitions, including Formula Ethara, Mubarmij50 Coding and Robotics competition, First Lego League and the World Robotic Olympiad, fostering students\' skills and enthusiasm for innovation and STEAM projects.
  • Facilitate technology-infused after-school clubs, such as 3D printing, coding, robotics and drone clubs, to engage students in hands-on learning experiences.
  • Support the school\'s innovation drive teams under the guidance of the EdTech Coach, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in technology education.
  • Support the integration of technology standards, such as those from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), across the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with curriculum leads to integrate technology and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into short, medium, and long-term curriculum planning.
  • Pursue relevant technology-related accreditations and attend training, such as Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert (MIEE) certification and Apple Teacher status, as appropriate for professional development and to improve the quality of learning and teaching.
  • Become proficient in the use of standard software and hardware used within the school environment and provide support to staff and students as a super user.
  • Collaborate with the EdTech Coach to promote awareness campaigns related to e-safety and digital citizenship.
  • To support teachers on initiatives and instructional best practices in all computing areas.
  • To ensure opportunities are provided for the professional development of staff by leading insets professional development for all staff, alongside the EdCoach, ensuring that they are up to date with developments in computing to improve the quality of learning and teaching.
  • To fulfil any additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate from the EdTech Coach and Senior Leadership Team.
REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in education or BSc degree with PGCE or equivalent is essential

Minimum Experience
  • Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in teaching specialist subject areas of Computing from KS1-2 British Curriculum is essential and KS3 is desirable.
  • Experience in teaching additional computing-related subjects or specializations, such as coding, robotics or digital literacy is also desirable.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills Successful candidates will also possess:
  • Previous experience working with students whom English is not their first language.
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child.
  • Proficiency in utilising a wide range of educational technology tools and platforms to enhance teaching and learning experience in primary computing.
  • Awareness of current and emerging trends in digital technology within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical strategies specifically tailored for integrating technology into the curriculum.
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities such as ECAs and Productions.
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background.
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life.
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check.
  • A clear commitment to nurturing and promoting the school vision.
