Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and creative Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, maintaining traditional Japanese techniques while also incorporating innovative styles, and ensuring food safety and hygiene standards. This role requires precision, creativity, and a passion for Japanese cuisine.

Key Responsibilities:



Prepare and present sushi and sashimi dishes including nigiri, maki, temaki, and specialty rolls. Select, clean, cut, and portion fish and other ingredients to ensure freshness and quality. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi bar and workstations at all times. Monitor inventory, manage stock levels, and ensure proper storage of ingredients. Create new menu items or specials to attract and retain customers. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations. Collaborate with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely and consistent food service. Train and guide junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and standards.

Requirements:



Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar Japanese cuisine role. In-depth knowledge of sushi preparation, knife skills, and food safety practices. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and presentation skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications:



Certification in food handling and safety. Experience in menu development and innovative sushi creations. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
