Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Supervisor oversees a team of mechanics and technicians responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment and systems. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational reliability, minimizing downtime, and managing resources efficiently. The focus is on leadership, planning, and execution of mechanical maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:

• Team Leadership: Supervise, schedule, and assign daily work tasks for the mechanical maintenance team. Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
• Maintenance Planning: Coordinate and prioritize preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and corrective maintenance work orders. Ensure resources (personnel, parts, time) are allocated effectively.
• Technical Guidance: Serve as the technical expert for complex mechanical issues involving pumps, motors, conveyors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and piping systems. Assist the team in troubleshooting and major repairs.
• Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety. Enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Budget & Inventory Management: Assist in developing the department budget. Monitor spending and control costs. Manage the mechanical parts inventory, ensuring critical spares are available while minimizing excess stock.
• Vendor Management: Liaise with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or projects, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve maintenance processes, increase equipment reliability, and reduce costs (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, Lean principles).
• Reporting: Generate reports on work order completion, equipment downtime, team productivity, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: High school diploma required. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field is highly preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience as a industrial mechanic or technician, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of mechanical systems, maintenance principles, and reliability concepts. Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficiency in conflict resolution and team building.
