Overview

HVAC Supervisor will be providing technical knowledge, experience, and skills to supervise and provide technical guidance to qualified technicians and mechanics providing operation, maintenance, installation and repair of HVAC systems repair to include trouble shooting and diagnostics. Assures the optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, fire/life safety, lighting etc. Manages personnel for facilities repair/renovation projects; ensures all routine preventative maintenance checks are accomplished while maintaining the ability to immediately respond to emergency facility maintenance requirements. Ensures all contractor facility requirements are met, in accordance with the PWS. Coordinates and supports all customer project requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Supervises and coordinates the operations, maintenance and service repairs on air/water cooled chillers, fire/water tube boilers, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.

+ Provide technical guidance to qualified technicians and mechanics providing operation, maintenance, installation and repair of chiller, boiler, heating and air conditioning systems repair to include trouble shooting and diagnostics.

+ Oversees the installation of new units and replacement parts and ensures work is completed according to company specifications and established safety guidelines.

+ May authorize equipment purchases and repair parts. Has appropriate licenses required by law.

+ Responsible for all work accomplished by the shop.

+ All other duties as assigned.

+ MUST be able to operate a manual transmission vehicle.

Qualifications

+ Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications:

+ The HVAC Supervisor must have a current and valid license (state or municipality), NATE certification (HVAC service) or a Level III technician certification by a nationally recognized certifying organization. Licenses from states or municipalities that require experience and examination similar to level III certification requirements are valid. Must be EPA section 608 Universal certified.

+ Experience

+ Must have at least five years of experience as an HVAC Technician or Mechanic

+ Certifications at the level III shall include multiple areas of competencies and specializations such as: air conditioning, air distribution, air-to-air heat pumps, gas furnaces, oil furnaces, light commercial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, boilers and HVAC efficiency analyst (Senior Level). Any apprenticeship programs shall include both classroom instruction and on-the-job apprenticeships.

+ Must have previous supervisory experience.

+ Skills

+ Knowledge of competencies and specialization such as: air conditioning, air distribution, air-to-air heat pumps, gas furnaces, oil furnaces, oil and gas boilers, light commercial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration, and HVAC efficiency analyst (Senior Level).

+ Supervisory Responsibilities

+ This position will supervise all personnel assigned to the HVAC Department.

+ Other Requirements

+ Overtime and shift work may be required depending on contractual needs. Employee must comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations and published Company work rules as well as written instructions.

+ Task specific work environment training will be provided as required.

+ Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in certain situations.
