The Role
Our Global Project Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced Consultant Structural Engineer to join their team in Dubai / Abu Dhabi. Successful candidates will have strong Structural Engineering experience working on new build projects in a supervision consultant capacity for a recognised PMC / Consultancy business. This role is available for immediate joining and is for an initial 3 month contract as an outsourced employee through J10 Consulting. Key Responsibilities: Design Review: o Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines to review structural designs that meet the project's requirements, including safety, functionality, and aesthetics. o Analyze and calculate loads, stresses, and forces acting on the structure to determine appropriate materials and design specifications. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools to review detailed structural plans and drawings. Code Compliance: o Ensure that all structural designs and construction methods comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards. o Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities for structural aspects of the project. o Identify and address any potential structural weaknesses or issues. Material Selection: o Select appropriate construction materials, considering factors such as strength, durability, cost, and environmental impact. o Specify material quality and procurement methods. Construction Oversight: o Collaborate with construction teams to ensure that the structural design is implemented correctly during the construction phase. o Conduct site visits to inspect ongoing construction, identify any deviations from the design, and provide solutions. Quality Control: o Implement quality control measures to verify that construction materials and methods meet the required standards. o Perform structural integrity tests and inspections as necessary. Budget Management: o Assist in developing and managing the structural engineering portion of the project budget. o Provide input on cost-saving measures without compromising safety or quality. Risk Assessment: o Identify potential risks and challenges related to the structural aspects of the project and develop mitigation plans. Communication: o Maintain clear and effective communication with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, project managers, and clients. o Provide regular updates on the progress and status of structural engineering activities. Documentation: o Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and records of structural design decisions and changes.
