Design steel frameworks for buildings, bridges, and industrial structures.
Ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety standards and building codes.
Use design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Tekla Structures, AutoCAD, or Revit.
Structural Analysis:
Perform load calculations (dead loads, live loads, wind, seismic).
Analyze the strength and stability of structural components (beams, columns, trusses).
Identify potential failure points and recommend solutions.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Provide input during the planning and construction phases.
Review construction drawings and shop drawings for accuracy and feasibility.
Material Selection & Specification:
Specify appropriate steel grades and connection details.
Ensure proper welding, bolting, and fabrication standards.
Construction Oversight & Inspection:
Visit construction sites to inspect steel erection and ensure adherence to plans.
Address issues arising during construction related to structural steel.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare detailed reports, design documentation, and calculation packages.
Maintain project records for code compliance and quality control.
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (varies by region).
Proficient in structural analysis and CAD software.
Strong knowledge of steel design codes
Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
Strong communication skills for client and contractor interaction.
