We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented
Steel Structural Fabrication Engineer
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design interpretation, fabrication, and quality assurance of steel structures in line with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Review structural design drawings and prepare detailed fabrication drawings and shop sketches.
Coordinate with design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and ensure accuracy of drawings.
Plan and monitor the fabrication process to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of structural components.
Supervise and guide fabrication teams, welders, and fitters to ensure correct assembly and welding procedures.
Ensure that all fabricated components meet project specifications, industry codes, and quality standards.
Conduct inspections and quality control checks on completed fabrications prior to delivery.
Liaise with procurement teams for materials sourcing and ensure raw materials comply with standards.
Monitor compliance with safety regulations and promote safe working practices in the fabrication yard.
Prepare fabrication status reports and contribute to project progress meetings.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 4-6 years of experience in steel structural fabrication, preferably in the construction or industrial sector.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures (or similar), and MS Office Suite.
Strong understanding of welding standards, steel grades, and fabrication codes (e.g., AWS, AISC).
Excellent communication, organizational, and team leadership skills.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and ensure alignment with fabrication processes.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in managing fabrication workshops or site erection teams.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation.
Familiarity with project management tools and ERP systems.
