Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Data Engineer to join our Digital Business & Technology Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing data infrastructure, implementing data solutions, supporting our contracts Data visualisation needs and supporting our HQ on transversal projects for the Near and Middle East region. The Data Engineer will have two main roles: supporting data analysis for the UAE Geo spearheading the development of data engineering activities and contributing to the cultural change effort at the regional level.

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis (UAE Geo):

• Collect, clean, and analyze data to generate actionable insights and recommendations.
• Conduct data exploration and visualization to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
• Support ad-hoc data analysis requests to address specific business questions.

Reporting and Dashboard Development (UAE Geo):

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their analytics use cases and report requirements.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of interactive dashboards and reports using self-service BI tools (Looker Studio and Power BI).
• Conduct data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

Data Pipeline Development and Management (Near and Middle East):

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure efficient data flow and integration.
• Implement data ingestion and transformation processes from various sources to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Monitor and optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.

Data Warehousing and Database Management (Near and Middle East):

• Support in managing the data lake houses to support data storage and retrieval needs.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility within the data lake house.
• Implement and maintain database systems, including performance tuning and troubleshooting.

Data Modeling and Architecture (Near and Middle East):

• Design and implement data models and database schemas to support data analysis and reporting needs.
• Collaborate with the DB&T team to ensure efficient data flow and adherence to data modelling best practices.
• Implement data governance policies and standards to maintain data consistency and integrity.

Collaboration and Transversal Projects Management:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide data-driven solutions.
• Support various data department projects, including the Data Capture Programme, Data Architecture, Master Data Management, and Implementation of a Dashboard Factory.

Data Acculturation:

• Contribute to training programs and workshops to enhance analytical and technical skills.
• Provide support to UAE users for self-service analytics and reporting capabilities.
• Support the production of training materials and paths.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on data integration, data pipelines, and data modeling.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform and familiarity with services such as BigQuery, Data Fusion, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience in query optimization, data modeling, and database design.
• Hands-on experience with self-service BI tools like Looker Studio and Power BI for creating interactive dashboards and reports.
• Understanding of data governance principles and experience in implementing data quality checks.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data lake management.
• Familiarity with integration technologies, middleware, and API management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and cultures.
• Certifications in Google Cloud Platform or other relevant cloud platforms would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative project management.
• Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
