Deafblind Support Therapist / Shadow Teacher
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate therapist or special needs professional to provide one-on-one support for our deafblind daughter. The role involves accompanying her during daily routines and after-school hours, supporting her development through occupational therapy activities, communication support, and life skills training.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong bonds with children and believes in learning through routine, consistency, and meaningful interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Support & Supervision
-Provide one-on-one support as a shadow teacher/therapist after school
- Assist the child with day-to-day routines in a structured and supportive manner
- Ensure safety, emotional regulation, and comfort throughout the day
Therapy & Developmental Support
- Implement occupational therapy-based activities (fine motor, sensory integration, functional skills)
- Support development of life skills such as dressing, feeding, hygiene, and independence
- Use object cues, touch cues, and consistent routines to support understanding and communication
- Collaborate with parents and other professionals to follow therapy goals
Communication & Interaction
- Support non-verbal communication, sound awareness, and alternative communication methods
- Encourage engagement, exploration, and interaction in a calm, respectful way
- Observe and document progress, responses, and challenges
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Background in one or more of the following:
- Occupational Therapy
- Special Education
- Speech & Language Therapy (experience-based)
- Early Intervention
- Deafblind education or multi-sensory impairment support
- Experience working with deafblind children or children with multiple disabilities is highly preferred
- Knowledge of sensory processing, tactile learning, and structured routines
- Patience, emotional intelligence, and strong observational skills

Pay: QAR5,000.00 - QAR6,000.00 per month
