The South Indian Cook is responsible for preparing authentic South Indian cuisine, ensuring consistency, quality, and hygiene. The role involves preparing traditional dishes, managing ingredients, and following standard recipes while maintaining high food safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
Prepare, cook, and present South Indian dishes such as dosa, idli, vada, sambar, rasam, chutneys, curries, biryani, and tiffin items.
Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning.
Follow standard recipes and ensure quality control for all dishes.
Prepare masalas, batters, chutneys, and gravies daily based on production requirements.
Kitchen Operations
Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of food items.
Assist in daily mise-en-place and ensure the workstation is always ready.
Monitor food inventory and report shortages or requirements to the supervisor.
Coordinate with service staff to ensure timely delivery of dishes.
Hygiene & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen as per HACCP and company guidelines.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
Ensure proper handling of equipment and report any maintenance issues.
Teamwork & Communication
Work collaboratively with other cooks and kitchen helpers.
Train junior staff on basic South Indian preparations if required.
Maintain professional behavior at all times.
