Job purpose
Provides a robust Support, for implementing and maintain effective corrosion control & monitoring techniques for Inspection Services department at Duqm Refinery, under TL Materials and corrosion scope\xe2\x80\x99s; through (1) Implementing and maintaining an effective corrosion control & monitoring techniques to assure safe and reliable condition of the process pipelines & equipment and reduce equipment related downtime, and (2) Execute and monitoring programs to identifying & mitigating risks in a timely & efficient manner, in compliance to regulatory, industry standards and department tactics; in order to ensure and support Asset Integrity.
The position will act in accordance with OQ8 Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani\xe2\x80\x99s government & other legal justification\xe2\x80\x99s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Coordinate all material and corrosion site inspections according to inspection program of identified critical process parameters/ IOW\xe2\x80\x99s and establish with Process/ Ops team for action on any abnormalities or upsets and communicates findings.
  • of Process units; monitors inspection plans, overdue inspection tasks making sure all inspection plans are as per strategies and no overdue inspection.
  • Prepare and adjust inspection programs including follow up scope and frequency of inspection management activities at the sites to ensure the equipment integrity, reliability and in compliance to HSE policy.
  • Follow up the progress of routing inspection programs; monitors inspection plans, overdue inspection tasks making sure all inspection plans are as per strategies and no overdue inspection.
  • Execute online corrosion monitoring and control program for critical process equipment, piping and circuits.
  • Prepare analysis of materials standards and corrosion rate and identifies possible causes and remedies to bring the corrosion rate under control. Prepare findings and observations report to be discuss with other divisions.
  • Analyses in conjunction with Plant inspection team for any corrosion related failures, which includes but not limited to combined site visit, collecting sludge samples/failed samples and providing corrosion input to the inspection report.
  • Prepare file and maintained all documents related to corrosion loops (example marked PFD, P&ID and isometrics, etc.) Thickness analysing and follow up performance of Level & Integrity Operating Windows are prepared, filed and maintained.
  • Identify critical process parameters/ IOW\xe2\x80\x99s and work with Process/ Ops team for action on any abnormalities or upsets and communicates findings.
  • Provide input in appropriate material selection recommendations for the running plant.
  • Analyses with Process Department in evaluating the effectiveness of Corrosion Inhibitor programs by setting and evaluating KPI\xe2\x80\x99s and provide feedback/recommendations.
  • Monitor with Electrical Team cathodic protection systems in the plant to ensure proper corrosion protection and function
  • Provide analysis and recommendations of suitable painting and coating systems for external, immersed and high temperature applications etc.
  • Participate and prepare input in failure investigation and Root Cause Analysis as required for assigned area/units.
  • Participate in Risk Based Inspection process by identifying corrosion loops and degradation mechanisms and provide the Material & Corrosion input to the RBI analyst as and when required.
  • Analyses process of documents of new projects / modifications related to material selection, corrosion control & plant inspection monitoring, etc.
  • Prepare and ensure hand-over documents have appropriate details on material specifications, processes and procedures in line with contractual technical specifications.

Education requirements
Minimum qualification required is a college graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy/Chemical or equivalent

Language requirements
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) Arabic - Native (desirable)

Bachelor

5-8 years of relevant experience

Grade 8/9
8+ years of relevant experience

Both:
  • Knowledge in Metallurgy/Chemical
  • Experience and well versed in field investigation, inspections, troubleshooting, performance checks, data compilation, etc.
  • Understanding of Process Plant (P& ID / PFD) & Engineering drawings and OEM manuals.
  • Knowledge in software applications like Meridium, PI, and RBI etc.
Knowledge of:
  • Corrosion Monitoring Techniques & Corrosion Inhibitors & Corrosion Control Measures
  • Coating & Cathodic Protection
  • NACE, ASME and other industry codes
  • RBI, RCA and Defect Elimination.
  • Risk Assessments, HAZOPS & Safety
  • Good knowledge in QA/QC, ISO 9001, ISO 1400 and HSE plans
  • Knowledge & experience in NDT & specialized equipment inspection techniques.
  • Knowledge of inspection, corrosion engineering, welding, materials and QA / QC.
  • Sound judgment in technical matters with good skills in engineering field materials specifications, integrity inspection, plant design optimization/modification and applicable code &standards.
  • Familiar with methodologies/techniques which are applicable to the RBI Practice such as (hazard identification techniques).
  • Working knowledge of design, manufacture, metallurgy, applicable code & standard associated with inspection of plant/equipment and familiar with QA/QC systems and procedures
