Job Description

The Position

Summary: Leads and manages the assigned Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team and their activities for the assigned affiliate within the assigned division. Communicates local and corporate SHE requirements within the affiliate and helps ensure compliance. Implements, monitors and reports on key performance indicators for affiliate SHE. Implements, manages and documents SHE risk analyses for internal reviews, decision-making, corrective and preventative actions and associated reporting. Implements and manages affiliate SHE activities in accordance with short- and long-term affiliate SHE objectives, policies, procedures and standards. Develops and delivers training and other resources and methods for ensuring Roche's strict compliance with local and national SHE requirements. As assigned, supports affiliate business continuity planning in coordination with global requirements. Conducts and/or otherwise manages affiliate SHE audits. Recommends corrective and preventative actions as needed, and confirms the implementation of such to ensure issue resolution and closure. Supports local preparation for corporate or external SHE audits. Establishes and maintains external relations with SHE authorities and professional organizations to remain abreast of local and national laws and requirements. Selects, develops and evaluates employees to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

The tasks and duties of the local SHE organization and the local SHE officer include: Supporting and advising site senior and line management in SHE matters Promoting SHE in the Company based on local / global Roche SHE objectives and goals Supporting the organization for compliance with local legal regulations and with Roche SHE provisions (gap analysis; implementation of measures to close the gaps) Preparing and maintaining the SHE handbook as required by the Roche Group SHE Guidelines Supporting line management in SHE training for employees Preparing, developing and maintaining a system for receiving, documenting and responding to SHE related reports and complaints Ensuring that a risk analysis process is implemented and documented Conducting periodic SHE inspections Reporting critical SHE situations Monitoring and documenting : The implementation of SHE programs and action plans, especially SHE measures planned in order to close identified gaps Accidents and incidents, occupational injuries and illnesses, Emissions / pollution due to the activities of the Company (soil, water and air) The use of energy and raw materials and specifically regulated items The status and progress of actions related to SHE goals and targets The SHE KPIs for monitoring the trend towards the SHE goals and for SHE reporting Reviewing and supporting the communication of SHE related information Advising local (Roche external) emergency response teams in the event of incidents Establishing and maintaining the local (Roche internal) emergency management system Managing financial provisions for legacy health and environmental liabilities, together with the finance department Establishing and maintaining contacts with the local SHE authorities, professional organizations, scientific bodies and the public Ensuring that all legally required documents and permits are available Ensuring business continuity plan are in place Background and skills Engineer graduate Strong quality-orientation with attention to detail and a desire to deliver excellent service is essential Ability to manage a complex and varied workload, and complete work in a timely, efficient, and thorough manner Strong problem-solving, judgement and decision-making skills Superior communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to explain complex issues and requirements verbally and in writing in an easily understood manner Inclination to lead with positive, proactive energy and sense of urgency. Works well on cross functional teams whether in a lead or support role. Self-directed and able to develop and implement strategic EHS plans Ability to handle stress well, and to work well under pressure and tight deadlines. Ability to work as part of a team. Excellent listening and decision-making skills. Well-organized, detail oriented professional and ability to prioritize and make decisions. Fluency in English, French and Arabic. Strong technical capabilities (software use). Positivism and enthusiasm, even in difficult situations. At least 2 years Experience in SHE
