Job Description

Fugro is seeking an experienced Offshore Party Chief surveyor/ Senior Surveyor to join our Marine Asset Integrity (MAI) team to be based in Dubai/UAE. The department specialises in Offshore Positioning, Survey Construction (PCS) and Inspection projects mainly across the MEI region. As a Senior Offshore Surveyor, you are an integral part of the Offshore Survey Team and will be focused on the mobilisation and operation of positioning and survey equipment, including the acquisition and quality control of data onboard offshore vessels. The role of a Senior Offshore Surveyor is varied and offers the opportunity to not only set up, test and operate a wide variety of innovative and market-leading survey and positioning equipment, such as Fugro’s Vision Technology and Low Logistics Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, but also to collect, arrange and present results from various survey sensors. Your role
  • You will be responsible for the planning and execution of positioning and navigation tasks and are able to lead projects of low to medium complexity.
  • You will ensure the correct offsets, measurements and calibrations of the positioning equipment and also for the set-up and operation of survey equipment.
  • You will be responsible for field computations, in-field data processing and the compilation of survey reports.
  • You will be responsible for the appropriate QC of field data, computations and reports.
  • You will have a thorough knowledge of total station use, levelling, RTK use, land survey computations and CAD applications.
  • You will perform administrative duties including the compilation of project procedures, maintaining an accurate and complete logbook & records.
  • You will mentor junior members of your team.
What you bring along
  • You should have a BSc. degree in Hydrographic, Land or Geodetic Surveying and a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • You should have previous offshore experience on a variety of survey projects and be willing to work offshore for up to 200 days per year, usually on a 60-day rotation.
  • You should have experience in the calibration and verification of survey sensors used for surface and subsea positioning and are also proficient in the setup and operation of commonly used survey sensors, e.g., GNSS, Gyro, MRU, USBL and ideally also with MBES, USBL, LBL, INS and Digital Video.
  • You should have a sound understanding of the principles of real-time positioning, data acquisition and data QC and are proficient in the use of online survey software.
  • You should be good at problem solving, enjoy tackling technical challenges and have a can-do attitude.
  • You should have good communication and language skills in English (written and spoken) and be able to part of a multicultural team.
