" is responsible for overseeing the construction phase of structural engineering projects to ensure that all structural elements are built according to the approved design, codes, specifications, and quality standards. Their scope includes both technical oversight and site supervision.
1. Review and Approval of Structural Drawings and Documents
Verify that construction drawings and shop drawings comply with the design intent and relevant codes.
Review and comment on material submittals (e.g., concrete mix designs, steel grades).
Coordinate with the design consultant/engineer for clarification or modifications.
2. Site Supervision and Monitoring
Monitor site activities related to structural works (e.g., excavation, foundations, concrete works, steel erection).
Ensure that construction follows the approved drawings and specifications.
Conduct routine inspections and check reinforcement placement, formwork, shuttering, concrete pouring, etc.
3. Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
Implement and verify adherence to QA/QC procedures for structural components.
Check material quality and workmanship.
Witness concrete cube tests, rebar testing, and other structural-related tests.
4. Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with building codes, structural codes (e.g., ACI, BS, Eurocode), and local regulations.
Work closely with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) personnel to ensure safe structural works.
Report unsafe practices or conditions related to structural works.
5. Coordination and Communication
Coordinate with other discipline engineers (architectural, MEP, geotechnical) to resolve interface issues.
Attend project meetings (progress meetings, technical coordination meetings, etc.).
Liaise between the contractor, client, and consultant.
6. Progress Monitoring and Reporting
Track progress of structural works and report any delays or deviations.
Maintain records of inspections, non-conformances, and approvals.
Provide periodic reports to project management on structural activities.
7. Problem Solving and Technical Support
Address technical queries from the contractor (RFIs).
Suggest practical solutions to on-site structural issues.
Recommend alternatives in case of design/construction discrepancies.
8. Final Inspection and Handover
Participate in snagging, punch listing, and final inspection of structural works.
Ensure that all structural works are completed as per specifications before handover.
Support the preparation of as-built drawings and closeout documents.
Qualifications
With min 10 years of Experience
in the relevant scope (the Candidate should be worked for Consultant not contractor)
A candidate shall has a Bachelor degree from well know university with a Solid experience in mega projects especially in gulf areas "preferred in UAE".
