SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Job brief

We are seeking a detail-focused, knowledgeable and professional Senior Structural Engineer to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have a strong background in building and designing buildings and be adept with structural engineering processes and standards. The key focus of the position is to design, plan and oversee the building phase of large structures, such as commercial buildings and large home development sites.

Responsibilities

Develop structural plans and designs, and drawings for other construction personnel to follow. Oversee the building and creation of structures and frames. Analyze and make changes to ongoing projects as they move onward to ensure the safety of structures being built. Work in line with local building codes, considering flooding, fire safety measures, and other variables such as wind tunnels and surface quality. Inspect and analyze existing buildings to determine their safety or viability to be made safe again. Make recommendations to close or demolish unsafe buildings if deemed unsafe to habitation or a risk to the local community. Make plans to renovate listed buildings that may need original restoration work. Work in line with health and safety guidelines.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering or related field Demonstrated experience in a structural engineering role Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams Strong ability in drawing, designing, and creating diagrams, blueprints, and drawings Strong analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Demonstrated knowledge of health and safety guidelines Good report writing skills Strong manual dexterity Good problem-solving abilities Ability to prioritize own time and workload
