ADNOC Global Trading LTD ("AGTaEUR) seeks an ambitious, motivated, Senior Specialist, Operational Risk (" AGT ") to join its Middel Office team in Abu Dhabi. This is a unique opportunity to join a new and fast-growing international oil trading company, and to be part of its long-term future success. AGT Incorporated in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu DhabiaEUR(TM)s international financial centre, AGT commenced commercial operations in December 2020. It is owned by ADNOC (65%), Eni (20%) and OMV (15%). Head quartered in Abu Dhabi, it has ambitious plans for global growth. AGT has already established a subsidiary in Singapore which commenced operations this year, and expects to open in Europe and the US in the near future. AGTaEUR(TM)s business is focused on the physical trading of crude oil, condensate, liquid feedstock and refined oil products, risk management activities (including hedging), shipping and chartering, storage and management of inventories, the trading of oil related derivatives and other ancilliary activities. JOB PURPOSE: The Senior Specialist Operational Risk deputizes and supports the ADNOC Global TradingaEUR(TM)s (AGT) Operational Risk Manager in their day-to-day responsibility for providing independent operational risk oversight, control and reporting within AGT. The team has a wide remit and oversight of operational risk activities across its Abu Dhabi, Asia and Geneva offices. The Operational Risk team is responsible for providing independent operational risk advice and challenge to first line of defense through regular reporting and informal discussion. Job Specific Accountabilities General Identify, lead and independently investigate and report risk events during normal course of trading activities within tight timescales Coordinate with various stakeholders across the business for implementing actions and closure of incidents. Lead the maintenance and updating of the Risk Events Management System (REMS) Drive system improvements in REMS Liaise with senior management in developing open culture of risk event reporting Risk Register Review and Reporting Work with senior management in their quarterly risk assessment and identification of key business risks. Responsible for monitoring and consolidation of risk mitigation status by coordinating with stakeholders and communicate the status to the management on a pre-defined periodic frequency. Run models supporting the measurement and relationship of key risks contained within the risk register. Working with the HQ Enterprise Risk Management to ensure AGT is compliant with HQ requirements. New Product and Non-Standard Deal Approval Lead the stakeholder review, approval of non-standard / exceptional deal requests. Ownership of the Approved Product Register (APR) so that accurately reflects the ETRM Investigate APR reconciliations with the trading system KPI/KRI Reporting Responsible for the creation of monthly KPIs with a business narrative for circulation to management. Continuous proactive review, challenge and development of KPIs BCP Involvement and input to AGT BCP updates and BCP exercises. Secretariat Support Ops Risk Manager in the preparation, compilation of agenda papers for monthly Management Risk Committee reporting and the quarterly Fraud Risk Assessment Committee (FRAC) Facilitate in development of risk appetite framework with key stakeholders. Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) Support the development and implementation of the TPRM framework Work with internal stakeholders in assessing vendors and liaising with external TPRM support consultants Horizon Scanning Involvement in the AGT and Group Horizon Scanning Committee, responsible for highlighting geopolitical, economic, international and trading events which could potential provide opportunities or risks for AGT. Generic Accountabilities Leadership Deputize for the Operational Risk Manager as required Building of solid, trustworthy relationships across the business from senior management to juniors Coaching and mentoring of junior team members Self-starting and leading initiatives Identify and lead in diagnosis and implementation of process improvement across the business Ethical and honest, high integrity and trustworthy. Interfaces Work closely with Back Office, Front Office, Finance, Credit, Legal & Compliance towards adoption of appropriate risk management practices. Coordinate with stake holders across the business for timely reporting of risk events and redressal. Support implementation of business continuity readiness initiatives. Proactive and critical review of procedures and processes across the business Taking initiative to implement approved and improved department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures Conduct relevant updates, training to Operational Risk procedures Innovation and Continuous Improvement Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices too support greater efficiency n. Reports Provide inputs to prepare department progress reports for AGT Management. Performance Management Coach and mentor junior members of the team Contribute to the achievement of the Performance Objectives for the department in line with the AGT Performance framework. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Business, Science, Economics Engineering or Finance - 2.1 or above Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills 5+ yearsaEUR(TM) experience in Operational Risk within a Middle Office. Strong business English language writing skills Strong excel and mathematical skills Experienced in building and using models. Well informed of world product demand and supply, market dynamics. Industry knowledge - energy trading experience, supply/demand fundamentals of physical market, product grades and quality specs, refining systems, transportation and pipeline infrastructure and products carried, competitors, marine operations, third-party system parameters, standard terms and conditions of contracts, displays knowledge of the global energy business, refinery economics/drivers, understands the value of variations in specification, timing, and volume. Commodities trading knowledge - understand trading strategies, basic knowledge of trading fundamentals, global markets, arbitrage, market climate, keeps up to date with international events and geo-political climate. Financial knowledge - hedging/speculative/ price forecasting instruments, such as, derivatives, futures, options, OTC swaps, and various credit instruments, economic evaluation and analysis, understands concepts such as NPV, value creation, and option value.
