Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Platform)
Experience
10-14 years of professional software engineering experience with clear progression into system ownership, architecture, and technical leadership.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Senior Engineer who operates at architect level while remaining hands-on. This role owns backend and platform architecture, leads technical decision-making, and raises engineering standards across mission-critical fintech systems.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Platform Ownership

• Design, evolve, and govern backend and service architectures using Node.js, PHP/Laravel, and Python/FastAPI.

• Own REST API architecture including domain modelling, versioning, idempotency, and security controls.

• Define and review HLDs/LLDs ensuring scalability, auditability, and resilience.

• Drive decisions around data consistency, transactions, and fault tolerance.

Hands-on Engineering

• Actively code on complex workflows, financial logic, and core platform services.

• Review critical code paths for correctness, performance, and security.

• Lead incident remediation through structured RCA and systemic fixes.

• Own technical debt prioritisation aligned with business and risk impact.

Gen-AI & Engineering Excellence

• Establish AI-assisted engineering practices for development, testing, and documentation.

• Define responsible AI usage standards with strict data protection controls.

• Coach engineers on effective AI-assisted workflows without compromising rigor.

Data & Compliance

• Own data modelling strategies using MySQL and PostgreSQL.

• Ensure financial accuracy, traceability, and regulatory compliance.

• Design systems with auditability and operational resilience as first-class concerns.

Leadership & Influence

• Lead and mentor a small backend/platform team.

• Provide architectural direction and technical feedback.

• Partner with product, compliance, security, and DevOps teams.

• Participate in hiring and technical interviews.

Required Skills

• Expert backend engineering in Node.js, PHP/Laravel, Python/FastAPI.

• Deep experience with REST APIs and RDBMS systems.

• Strong grounding in clean architecture, testing, and CI/CD.

• Proven experience in regulated or fintech environments.
