Job Description
We have an urgent requirement for a Senior Security Network Engineer / Administrator onsite on a long-term contract for a major IT vendor in County Dublin, Ireland. Role Overview: As a Senior Security Network Engineer / Administrator, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing our network security infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of our network systems while proactively identifying and mitigating potential security threats. This position requires a strong technical background in network security, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Responsibilities:

- Network Security Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement robust network security architectures, policies, and procedures to safeguard the organization's network infrastructure against potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Network Infrastructure Management: Oversee the administration and maintenance of network devices, firewalls, routers, switches, intrusion detection systems, and other security-related hardware and software.
- Incident Response and Management: Develop and execute incident response plans to promptly address and mitigate security breaches or vulnerabilities in the network infrastructure.
- Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing: Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to identify weaknesses in the network infrastructure and develop effective remediation plans.
- Security Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor network traffic, log data, and security events to identify and respond to potential security incidents. Analyze security logs and reports, investigate any anomalies, and take appropriate action.
- Security Policy and Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to network security. Develop and enforce security policies and procedures throughout the organization.
- Network Troubleshooting and Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve complex network security issues. Identify areas for improvement and implement network optimization strategies to enhance performance and reliability.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers/administrators. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to implement security solutions and drive security initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP Security, CISM) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer, Network Administrator, or in a similar role with a focus on network security.
- Deep understanding of network protocols, routing, switching, firewall technologies, VPN, IDS/IPS, and other network security technologies.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS).
- Experience with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, vulnerability scanners, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and packet analysis tools.
- Hands-on experience with network security devices, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto firewalls, and other leading vendors.
- Proficient in scripting and automation using languages such as Python or PowerShell.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex network security issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Up-to-date knowledge of emerging security trends, threats, and technologies.
