This position reports to the Country CEO. S/he will be responsible for soliciting, developing and deepening relationships with corporate entities based in the UAE and Middle East, doing business in Africa or having cash flows to and from Africa.
The officer will position the Institution as the bank of choice for MENA corporates requiring access into Africa through the provision of value-added Treasury, Cash Management and Trade Finance solutions. The responsible officer must possess a strong understanding of the business environment in MENA, Nigeria and Africa in general.
Ideal candidate will come with experience in covering African Corporate Clients either in MENA or in Africa.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities
Act as Global Account Manager (GAM) for large Institutions with operations in Africa, originate & transfer relationships across the Bank entities in Africa.
Working in line with Credit policy and within the Bank\'s risk asset acceptance criteria, Initiate credit appraisal memorandums for credit requests received from customers.
Develop and lead the sales and relationship management effort covering corporates in MENA that have business interest in Africa.
Act as a first line of defense for AML risks, ensure a strong \xe2\x80\x9cKnow Your Customer\xe2\x80\x9d culture within the Sales force, ensuring full compliance with the bank\'s KYC/AML policies and procedure.
Grow fees and non-fee income in line with budget through provision of trade, transaction banking, FX as well as Cash Management solutions to customers.
Initiate and manage profitable relationships with customers meeting our risk acceptance criteria.
Prepare internal reports to apprise management of the performance of the business versus set goals and participate in weekly review meetings.
Perform annual SWOT analysis and wallet sizing exercise on the business and advise management appropriately.
Protect the integrity of the Bank by ensuring that customer relationships are managed within legal and regulatory guidelines; abide by the Bank\'s Code of Conduct and promote very high compliance standards.
Working with the product teams, sell Treasury products, Cash Management products as well as Trade Finance products to the customer segments highlighted above.
Engage in Institutional banking efforts that include enhancing existing relationships and developing new relationships required to achieve the bank\'s funding and liquidity targets.
Originate viable and profitable risk assets directly from customers as well as through risk participation with accepted counterparties.
Grow customer market share by a minimum of 25% annually.
Monitoring and reporting on key market trends.
Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental and Bank needs. Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possess a minimum of 15 years\' experience in Corporate Banking in a financial services firm, the last 7 of which must be in a client facing role covering African corporates.
In-depth understanding of the MENA- Africa corporate banking opportunities
Bachelor\'s degree (or equivalent) with a concentration in business administration; management; economics or marketing preferred. Master\'s degree a plus.
Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in market research and development of banking products and services.
A thorough knowledge of cash management, trade finance products and services as well as Treasury products.
Maintains strong industry knowledge and relationships, and able to provide market and competitor feedback to ensure competitiveness.
