Position Title: Senior Operations Manager, Waste Management and environment

Position Overview: The role is for a prominent UAE based company

The Senior Operations Manager - Waste Management is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the waste management services, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and enhancing operational efficiency. The role includes strategic planning, team leadership, budget management, and the implementation of sustainable waste management practices. This individual will work closely with senior leadership, clients, and operational teams to meet organizational goals.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management within the waste management or environmental services industry.

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in waste collection Division.

Proven leadership experience with at least 3-5 years in a senior management role.

Strong background in budgeting, cost management, and operational optimization.

Skills:

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Deep knowledge of waste management regulations and environmental laws.

Proficiency in operational software, fleet management, and waste tracking technologies.

Ability to drive sustainability initiatives and improve operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

Lead and manage the waste management operations team, ensuring the efficient collection, transportation, recycling, and disposal of waste materials.

Develop and implement best practices for waste management processes, optimizing routes, schedules, and operational workflows to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Supervise and mentor department managers, supervisors, and other key staff members to ensure high standards of performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Budget & Financial Management:

Oversee budgeting and financial forecasting for waste management operations.

Monitor costs, manage resource allocation, and ensure efficient use of equipment and manpower.

Develop cost-saving initiatives, evaluate new technologies, and implement waste diversion strategies to increase profitability.

Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding waste disposal, recycling, and environmental practices.

Establish and enforce safety standards and procedures to reduce accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

Regularly assess operations for compliance with environmental laws and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

Strategic Planning & Process Improvement:

Develop long-term strategies for waste management services, including the adoption of sustainable and innovative technologies.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure continuous improvement in operational performance.

Lead efforts in waste reduction, recycling initiatives, and sustainability programs to improve environmental impact.

Customer and Stakeholder Relations:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and vendors.

Respond to customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure that service expectations are consistently met.

Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior leadership and clients, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

Team Development & Training:

Develop training programs for staff on new technologies, waste management practices, and regulatory updates.

Ensure staff are regularly trained on safety protocols, operational procedures, and compliance requirements.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage employee engagement and development.

Technology and Innovation:

Oversee the implementation of technological solutions to enhance waste tracking, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Stay up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and new waste management practices that can benefit the company.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
