Job Description

ConductsOccupational Therapy (OT) evaluation of patients referred by a KFSH&RCphysician. Develops and implements an OT program. Promotes the restoration ofoccupational, functional, psychosocial abilities and aid in the adjustment todisability. Assists in the training of occupational therapists.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1.Reviews OT request and patient’s records todetermine nature of therapy to be given. Performs objective clinical assessmentto determine treatment goals and objectives. 2.Plans and administers OT programs topatients to maximize function, relieves pain and prevents disability. Developstreatment protocols and home programs as appropriate. 3.Administers treatments. Supervisesexecution of treatment plan by subordinate personnel. Evaluates and recordseffects of treatments, response, and progress. 4.Consults with physician and otherhealthcare personnel regarding treatment objectives. Liaises with, and acts asa resource for other healthcare personnel regarding issues relating to OT. 5.Instructs patients and caregivers in homeprogram for improving functional activities and self-care. 6.Provides peer review to staff occupationaltherapist rotating through area of specialty and provides information for theirperformance evaluations. 7.Incorporates quality improvement strategiesin clinical practice. 8.Participates in self-education, training,and development. Assists with training of staff occupational therapists. Actsas preceptor for Saudi Career Development Program (SCDP) participants,volunteers, and interns. 9.Follows all Hospital related policies andprocedures. 10.Participates in self’s and others’education, training, and development as applicable. 11.Performs other related dutiesas assigned.
Education
Master’sor Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy is required.
Experience Required
  • Grade 09:
Four (4) years of related experience withBachelor’s or six (6) years for Associate Degree/Diploma is required.
  • Grade 10:
  • Four (4) years as Physical Therapist atKFSH&RC.
  • Average of annual performance appraisal atleast (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
  • One hundred (100) hours ofcumulative continued medical education [CME].
Other Requirements(Certificates)
  • Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
  • Obtains continuing education in assigned specialty area and/or certificates of added qualification.
  • Attends courses in subspecialty area. Presents scientific papers/posters in accredited scientific events (symposia and conferences).
