Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Reports To: Mechanical Engineering Manager / Project Manager
Experience: Minimum 6 Years (with proven experience in Industrial Projects)
Job Summary
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a key technical authority within the mechanical design team. You will be responsible for the conceptualization, detailed design, analysis, and specification of mechanical systems and equipment for large-scale industrial projects. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, a proven track record in industrial settings, and the ability to guide junior engineers. You will ensure that all designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes.
Key Responsibilities

  • System Design & Engineering:
  • Lead the design and specification of industrial mechanical systems, including but not limited to: piping systems, pressure vessels, HVAC for industrial environments, material handling systems (conveyors, ASRS), pumps, compressors, and other process machinery.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including stress analysis, fluid flow, heat transfer, and pump sizing to validate design integrity.
  • Develop and review P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), equipment datasheets, and mechanical layout drawings.
  • Select appropriate materials of construction based on process requirements and environmental conditions.
  • Project Execution & Management:
  • Manage the mechanical engineering scope for assigned project packages, ensuring deliverables are on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Process) to ensure a fully integrated design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior and Intermediate Mechanical Engineers.
  • Client & Vendor Interaction:
  • Interface directly with clients to understand their needs, present design proposals, and address technical queries.
  • Lead the technical bid evaluation process, review vendor quotations, and approve subcontractor/subvendor drawings and calculations.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, NFPA) and company quality procedures.
  • Conduct and/or review Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Perform site visits to survey existing conditions, support construction, and resolve field issues.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience working on industrial projects such as manufacturing plants, chemical processing, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, power generation, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or eligibility to obtain within one year is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks, Inventor) and stress analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II).
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping code and pressure vessel codes (ASME Section VIII).
