Job Description

Job Purpose: In line with vision of being a global trade enabler, DP World seeks satisfy the needs of its end customers ie, the importers and exporters. The primary business lines in this endeavor are e-commerce to improve sales, trade finance to improve working capital, end-to-end logistics and finally, a suite of digital products and tools for logistics operators. As part of this endeavor, Group Technology is investing heavily in both staff and tools to be able to develop software solutions for these business lines. Each business line working on multiple products, each product has multiple services, and each service has multiple tools being used and multiple staff members (full time and contract) working on the software products. In addition, DP World has acquired various logistics entities in different parts of the world who have their own software stack and staff. Together, these expenses are more than $100M annually. This has created a complex scenario of various vendors being used for tools or staff across the various entities in DP World, resulting in an opportunity to save costs through consolidation of vendor contracts, and by having governance on the staff and tool usage across various products and services. In addition, maintaining good supplier relations is critical to the deployment of quality resources for DP World\xe2\x80\x99s business growth. The Senior Manager of Supplier Management will work closely with product development teams, finance, procurement and external suppliers to establish governance on the third-party resources being used, save costs via consolidation, and ensure timely and quality deployment of resources. They will act as the single point of contact for the senior most stakeholders in the supplier community and will maintain those relationships. They will work closely with product development teams to elastically scale resources up and down depending on the need and availability of in-house staff. Key Accountabilities:
  • Maintain a full inventory and costs of all third-party staff and tools being used across DP World by working with procurement and finance.
  • Working with procurement and finance, establish a governance and reporting model for these costs, along with identifying opportunities to save cost by procuring lower cost suppliers, reducing resources, consolidating tools etc.
  • To monitor suppliers\xe2\x80\x99 performance: drawing up SLAs, defining key performance indicators, overseeing overall suppler costs and budgets, and reporting regularly.
  • Maintain supplier relationships at the senior most level, ensure DP World gets quality support in a timely manner.
  • Make strategic recommendations on build in-house vs buy after understanding DP World\xe2\x80\x99s strategic imperatives.
  • Provide guidance, recommendations, and strategies about contract management and administration of best practice for different DP World digital products.
  • Manage the formulation and finalization of all contract types as required in coordination with legal and procurement.
  • Ensure that all contracts follow the DP World policies and procedures, as well as government regulations and interests across the world.
  • To participate in negotiations: supporting staff on sensitive or strategic issues, monitoring framework agreements.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
  • 15+ years of experience in the supplier and vendor management, preferably specialized in the Ports and Logistics domain in general and technology in particular.
  • Should have managed the supplier function in well known Multi National Corporations
  • Bachelors in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or related discipline required. Masters is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge about the vendor and supplier ecosystem for various technology resources and tools with connections at the senior management level.
  • Experience of leading vendor relationship management functions with in the Technology sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level, ability to navigate complex organizations.
  • Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
  • Excellent persuasion skills, ability to spot business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of best practice procurement techniques
  • Change management experience implementing strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives
  • Experience preparing specifications and analyzing bids
  • Have a proactive mindset and problem-solving attitude.
  • Strong management or leadership skills as exhibited by experience in effectively leading a team and/or chairing committees
  • Experience in budget planning and implementation
  • Impeccable ethics and a high level of integrity
  • Current knowledge of industry practices, trends and issues
