JOB TITLE
Senior Manager - Direct Tax | Holding | Finance
JOB PURPOSE:
The primary objective of the candidate shall be to support the Tax Operations Director - Direct Tax in overseeing the Direct Tax Operations focused on compliance and audit and serving various markets in which the Group operates. The focus will be on streamlining operational tax compliance for businesses and working closely with the Group's shared service centre in Egypt (GS) to promote efficiency and ensuring quality service delivery.
ROLE PROFILE:

• Focus on providing oversight and support for the Direct Tax Operations vertical, covering Retail, Lifestyle and Entertainment businesses, ensuring alignment with the Group's strategic goals
• Responsible for Corporate Tax /Zakat compliance for GCC region including registrations/ deregistration, return filing, making clarification requests and making payments/ obtaining refunds along with local country and GS teams.
• Represent tax function in investment / risk committees, provide advice and create tax-business partnership.
• Review basis of preparation and tax positions for compliances managed by local Countries and GS (Egypt, Levant, Central Asia and Africa) and provide support as needed.
• Review Transfer Pricing documentation such as local files, master files and disclosure form, undertake requisite benchmarking evidence and maintain/ update inter-company agreements for all cross-border transactions for above-mentioned businesses.
• Provide input into other direct tax compliance and reporting obligations where applicable such as ESR, FATCA/ CRS.
• Periodic review and update of processes to support GS and Country tax teams with their mandate and delivery.
• Provide tax advisory support for M&A and day-day to operational transactions to countries and M&A team as needed.
• Identify and maintain tax risk registers and recommend controls/ mitigation measures.
• Identify and ideate tax optimisation opportunities to create value for the Group.
• Involve in tax audit management and socialize progress and learnings with other verticals.
• Monitoring tax developments and regulatory changes impacting on the scope of existing covered compliances and take appropriate action/ recommendation.
• Succession planning/ rotation to ensure continuity and building knowledge/ technical capabilities by training tax team members.
• Prepare monthly reporting pack and dashboards for CFOs and Risk Committee highlighting areas of risk, opportunities and compliance status.
• Deploy tax technology/ automation tools to bring efficiency.
• Regularly coordinate with the stewardship and governance team at Group level to seek guidance on key operational and compliance matters.

• Minimum 8+ years of similar experience, having worked in a Tax environment in a large organization, managing tax operational matters and leading tax teams.
• Having work in a Big 4 Audit firm in the UAE or any tax consulting role is recommended.
• Good practical and technical tax knowledge in taxes including Corporate Tax, Transfer Pricing, Withholding Tax and strong understanding of global tax regulations and trends.
• Good written and oral communication skills - Fluency in English.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive organizational change.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting is a must.
• Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA/ ACCA/ CPA/ ICAEW).
