Job Description

Reporting to the Director of research and under the direct supervision of the Department lead, the Senior Maintenance Engineer would be responsible for assisting the Research staff in conducting research and development and analyzing results. The maintenance engineer support staff is crucial in managing the research and development equipment, labs, machinery, facilities, etc. She/he would support the Research Head and Assistants in carrying out research protocols and standards.
  • Responsibilities
  • Execute the research and development plan in alignment with the research lead directives.
  • Carry out experiments and analysis according to protocols laid out by Research Lead and overall project objectives.
  • Database, LIMS, and Records Management
  • Operate various labs, systems, and other equipment as applicable per OEM standards to facilitate research projects.
  • Conduct statistical analyses of data sets, collect, and log experimental data.
  • Analyze and evaluate data gathered during research. Ensure compliance with protocol and overall research objectives.
  • Operate and maintain the research labs, facilities, and specific equipment, etc., with the intent to acquire new knowledge through research and development.
  • Assist the Research Head and Research Assistant\xe2\x80\x99s in carrying out the research activities of the project.
  • Manage the maintenance team and Day-to-day maintenance, operation, and management of the research labs, facilities and specific equipment etc.
  • Operate various lab, farms. Systems and other equipment as applicable per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards to facilitate research projects.
  • Monitor the operational status of the equipment (such as functional, partially functional, or non-functional) and the performance of systems.
  • Prepare samples for analysis.
  • Aid in the analysis and interpretation of research data
  • Undertake routine sample analysis and document results.
  • Comply with defined operational policies and procedures.
  • Manage the stock of consumables and other materials required for operating the facility\xe2\x80\x99s equipment.
  • Train students, staff, and users on the use of equipment to generate quality data, if required
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory as applicable.
  • Prepare reports on research project progress, key achievements, and outcomes to bodies supervising research, e.g., Board, CEO, Director of Research and Management committees, etc.
  • Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the research project.
  • Address issues that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines and timely communication to the Research Head
  • Support staff and any interns who may be assisting with the research.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and be responsible for continually updating knowledge and understanding in the field of study or specialism and for developing skills.
Qualifications
  • BS or Master\'s degree in Applied Science of related technological area.
  • Three (3) years minimum of prior experience in maintaining and operating scientific instruments.
  • Experience with specialized instruments, software, or datasets related to the research field.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within the assigned research programs.
  • Evidence of research activity and published research is desirable.
