Overview
URGENT – Interested in a 18 month Tax Free Contract? Expression of interests urgently required - Our Client is completing a Tender for Services – EOI’s needed by 25th of August. Please note we cannot submit your details if you have not specified in your COVER NOTE your a) expected Day Rate (to you) and b) Availability

Our Client, a Consulting Services Company specialising in Upstream Oil and Gas seeks a GeoModellor to help build reservoir geological models (static models) for several reservoirs. The models will be a key component of future field development planning in a number of naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs. The service required includes
building new geologic models, review and improve existing geologic models. The software used for building, reviewing and improving geological models is mostly Petrel and occasionally RMS.

This is an “in-house” position, located in the client’s technical research centre and projected to be 18 months in duration minimum.

Applicants invited with 25+ of industry experience in reservoir modelling, plus experience in modelling carbonate reservoirs in Middle East. Good software skills using Petrel and/or RMS desired.

Responsibilities
As a GeoModeller – you will undertake the following:
  • Build new geological models, review and improve existing geologic models where available.
  • Deliver static geological models for six reservoirs, each reservoir requires 3 months to complete all deliverables under this scope, integrating all subsurface data. The reservoirs belong to Cretaceous to Jurassic and older formations as developed in the fields in UAE. (i.e., total duration is 18 months)
  • For each reservoir integrate about 20 to 50 well data as applicable. Data include well data, data from about 10 to 15 cored wells and core descriptions, data from special logs, MDT, well test, PLT and production data over time. Integrate seismic data and seismic inversion data as available for these reservoirs
  • Carry out detailed QAQC of available seismic interpretation of horizons and faults for each reservoir.
  • Carry out well correlation or review existing well correlation and develop stratigraphic framework. Integrate data from drilled horizontal wells (typically about 10 to 20 per reservoir) into the reservoir sub zonation using operation geology and wireline data.
  • Build structural framework of reservoir model using Petrel integrating all the above data to achieve required KPI.
  • Review available well log interpretation. Integrate all available sedimentology and geology data to understand reservoir property distribution and diagenesis. Analyse all well test data and MDT data to understand fluid contacts in the reservoir, interact with other disciplines as needed. Interact with Petrophysics domain to help carry out carbonate specific reservoir rock typing, permeability prediction and water saturation prediction. Integrate all the above data into the reservoir model to build facies and rock type model, porosity model, permeability model and water saturation model.
  • Carry out in-place hydrocarbon volume analysis for the reservoir. Analyse in-place sensitivity and uncertainty analysis and generate different model scenarios as needed for reservoir simulation meeting defined KPI.
  • Interact with reservoir engineers to help in static model upscaling and initialization. Dynamic model loopback and model modification as needed.
  • Present the results to different audience as and when needed

Preferences
The successful candidate will have:
  • Postgraduate in Geology or higher qualification in Geology essential.
  • 25+ years of industry experience in reservoir modelling essential
  • Strong experience in carbonate reservoirs in Middle East essential. Preferably 10+ years.
  • Specialist skills in carbonate reservoir modelling using Petrel or RMS highly desired.
  • Good regional geological knowledge of reservoirs developed in UAE and adjoining countries essential.
  • Experience working in Abu Dhabi and its oil and gas fields highly desired.
  • Knowledge of reservoir modelling standards used by operators desired.
  • Knowledge of all advanced reservoir modelling skill desired.
  • Good knowledge of/experience in geophysics and Petrophysics domain essential.
  • Working knowledge in Petrel Geophysics and Techlog. desired.
  • Specialist skills in modelling naturally fractured carbonate reservoirs desired.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with Company engineers and service providers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills –ability to relay technical knowledge and concepts in a coherent and friendly manner.
  • Can work independently and suggest innovative ideas to improve and enhance the solution.
  • Previous experience working in the Middle East desired.
  • Fluent in English – both verbally and in writing essential. Arabic advantageous
