Job Summary:

The AC Senior Foreman (Bus Maintenance) is responsible for overseeing and coordinating air conditioning (AC) maintenance and repair activities within the bus fleet. This role ensures that AC systems function efficiently, adhering to safety and operational standards. The Senior Foreman supervises a team of AC technicians, schedules maintenance tasks, and ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance & Repair Operations:

Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and repair of bus AC systems to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose and troubleshoot AC system malfunctions, including refrigerant leaks, compressor failures, and electrical issues. Ensure proper installation, servicing, and replacement of AC components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and blower motors. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.

2. Team Supervision & Leadership:

Lead and supervise a team of AC technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed efficiently. Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for complex AC system issues. Conduct regular performance evaluations and training programs for team members to enhance skills and knowledge. Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and procedures.

3. Compliance & Quality Assurance:

Ensure all AC maintenance and repairs meet regulatory requirements and industry standards. Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and extend the lifespan of AC systems. Collaborate with fleet managers to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to bus operations. Monitor and enforce adherence to environmental regulations related to refrigerants and waste disposal.

4. Inventory & Cost Management:

Monitor the availability of spare parts, tools, and equipment needed for AC maintenance. Coordinate with procurement teams to source quality parts at competitive prices. Track and manage maintenance expenses to optimize cost efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Diploma or certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, or a related technical field. Minimum of 15+ years of experience in AC maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of bus HVAC systems, including diagnostics and repair techniques. Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards. Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a team. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively. Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in public transport or fleet maintenance. Certification in EPA Refrigerant Handling. Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Work Environment:

Primarily workshop-based, with occasional on-site bus maintenance and inspections. Requires hands-on work in varying weather conditions. May involve occasional night shifts, weekends, or emergency call-outs.
