JOB PURPOSE:

Review, study, supervise, and provide operational, technical, and engineering expertise on process control, advanced process control, optimization, digitalization and higher level applications, alarm management, and process information management system following a consistent application of engineering standards in the development of projects to ensure 100% HSE, high reliability, performance, profitability, sustainability, and efficiency in the Company\'s operations.

Process Automation Engineering

Review, study and provide technical and engineering expertise in the field of Process Automation covering base layer process control, control loop performance assessment, advanced process control, real time optimization, alarm management system, digitalization and automation to contribute in increasing the Plant\'s performance and reducing the operating costs.

Review and recommend, on a periodic basis, improvements to Process Automation systems in compliance with HSE measures and international standards to promote efficiency.

Facilitate the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of process automation activities at the Site for a quality customer service.

Develop and update the relevant procedures to maintain robust and consistent processes.

Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing process automation applications and systems in terms of uptime, performance, monetary benefits, standardization, and obsolescence.

Conduct judicious analysis on various alternatives for optimum solutions to effectively support the Company\'s operations.

Lead/review the feasibility studies, conducted by external consultants, to evaluate the financial and technical viability of applications.

Lead the approved projects\' implementation, carried-out by external consultants, during different activities and phases which include, but not limited to, the scope of work, tender documents, technical bid evaluation, engineering, installation and commissioning.

Develop/review the scope of work to facilitate the process automation processes\' implementation in conformity with HSE measures.

Develop/lead the development performed by external consultants on functional specifications, design, as-built documentation, user manuals, training materials and maintenance procedures for the new and existing applications to ensure the effective utilization of systems and applications.

Perform the troubleshooting on process automation systems and related applications to maximize their availability and reliability.

Identify and implement optimization programs that enable the Plant to operate efficiently at optimum conditions and with maximum yield.

Lead/ facilitate the alarm rationalization workshops and implement the recommendations in an effective and timely manner to improve the alarm\'s performance.

Evaluate, technically, the vendors and contractors to support the Procurement Division in the pre-qualification process, as required.

Conduct knowledge sharing sessions and trainings to contribute to the overall sustenance of the process automation solutions.

Supervision

Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.

Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective functional objectives.

Budgets

Provide input for preparation of the functional budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver functional objectives.

Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

Implement approved Section / Team / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management

Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the function in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.

Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best Industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Reports

Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
  • COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal

Regular work related contacts with the concerned Team Leader and Department Manager as required, peer professional staff and team members on matters related to Team Policies and Processes, People, HSE and domain specific issues.

Regular contacts with the Technical Services, Operations, and Maintenance teams for providing guidance on process automation related matters.

Regular contacts with counterparts from other Sites and Engineering & Technical Services Division on work related matters.

Regular contacts with Business IT at the Site for all interface activities between operational technology network and IT network as per the approved security standards and best practices.

External

Regular contacts with Consultants, Contractors and Vendors for coordination of projects on all phases.
  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualification

Bachelor Degree in in Chemical, Petrochemical, Process Control Engineering, or any other equivalent qualification.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

8 years of experience in the field of process control and optimization within the Oil & Gas industry.

Solid knowledge about process control & optimization and process automation systems such as DCS, BLPC, APC, RTO, CLPM, AMS, Dashboards, etc.

Working background in the implementation of, at least, 2 RTO and 4 APC projects and leading alarm rationalization and suppression activities.

Sound knowledge and experience in the development, reviews, and execution of process control and automation technical standards and procedures.

Knowledge of latest technological developments and their implications on business in view of the variety of processes, DCS, and ICS control applications.

Extensive knowledge of guidelines and specifications for Process Control in the CONCEPT, SELECT, and DEFINE project phases.

Good knowledge of relevant national and international regulations and standards.

Good knowledge of HSE principles and their applications relevant to Oil & Gas industry.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Planning and organizing, scheduling and coordinating, checking, examining, and recording.
