Job Description

Our Water sector is growing with a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
In this role, you will be required to undertake engineering services on a range of water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects. You will be an integral part of a large multidisciplinary, multi-skilled team of engineers working on various water and infrastructure projects in domestic and international locations. You will work in our team preparing proposals, executing projects, and supporting management in developing new clients and markets.

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but are not limited to, the below:
  • Undertake engineering services on a range of water sector projects.
  • Undertake assignments as owner’s engineer for doing basic engineering, preparation of technical specification for tenders, tender evaluation, discussion with tenderers and award of contracts, post-award review engineering of vendor's design and drawings, detailed design/engineering, etc.
  • Undertake technical review, contractual review for project due diligence roles, periodic construction monitoring, and operational monitoring review.
  • As part of the technical advisory, you will do site selection, layout development, basic system engineering, preparation of feasibility report / detailed project report/ concept report, and project developer’s bid assistance services for the development of the project.
  • When working on a specific project which may require short periods of travel including site visits and client meetings, responsibilities will be as defined by the project manager responsible for that assignment.
  • Managing the interfaces and integration of the mechanical design with that of other disciplines
  • Managing and contributing to the preparation of design deliverables (such as drawings for plant general arrangements, documentation, schedules, and design reports) to achieve the correct time/cost / quality balance for the project
  • Business development includes providing specialist support to our account leaders and practices, and leading on proposals and tenders in the water and wastewater fields
Candidate Specification
  • Degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university;
  • Professional Engineering Registration or a Chartered Engineer from a recognised professional institution is desirable
  • Ability to produce clear and concise mechanical design deliverables across all design stages of a project.
  • Practicing Engineer Registration with the Department of Municipality and Transport, Abu Dhabi is a must.
  • Demonstrable experience of engineering services within the water sector,
  • In-depth knowledge of the layout and interconnectivity of typical water and wastewater treatment works processes and equipment including pumping systems. Experience and knowledge of Reverse Osmosis systems is an advantage.
  • Experience in applying hydraulics theory and best practice to practical applications in the water industry including understanding and some technical experience in steady state hydraulics and the appreciation of transient hydraulics for water/wastewater treatment facilities and associated transmission pipelines.
  • Knowledge of and experience with hydraulic modeling applications, BIM processes, and associated software would be preferred.
  • A strong understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of projects is essential.
  • A drive to be abreast of professional development and knowledge of current and emerging technical solutions.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UAE and overseas would be advantageous to help support our UAE and international workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in the English language), both written and verbal are a must.
