We are seeking an accomplished Regional Vice President to lead and expand our market presence across a strategically critical and diverse region encompassing Turkey, Russia, CIS, Balkans, Middle East, and GCC countries. This senior leadership role requires extensive experience in government relations and commercial business development, with a proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and build strategic relationships across diverse markets. The day-to-day:
Market Development & Strategy
In collaboration with various lines of business:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive regional market development strategies aligned with global corporate strategy and Business Unit goals
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across government and commercial sectors
  • Lead market entry strategies for new countries and verticals within the region
  • Conduct market analysis and competitive intelligence to inform strategic decision?making
  • Establish regional revenue targets and drive achievement of business objectives
  • Participate in corporate, strategic, and tactical planning activities for the assigned countries and region
  • Provide insight into regional risks, compliance considerations, and regulatory developments to senior leadership
Government Relations & Public Sector
  • Establish and maintain senior?level relationships with government ministries and agencies across the region
  • Navigate complex regulatory environments and government procurement processes, advising internal stakeholders accordingly
  • Lead or support negotiations with government entities for large?scale contracts and partnerships
  • Develop strategies to address regional regulatory and licensing requirements and manage compliance risks
  • Represent the company at government forums, industry events, and ministerial meetings
  • Conduct lobbying activities through engagement with public authorities, trade bodies, diplomatic representatives, and relevant embassies
  • Work with US and UK embassies and trade teams to support regional business objectives
Commercial Business Development
  • Build and manage relationships with key commercial customers and enterprise clients in alignment with Business Unit objectives
  • Drive or enable revenue growth across commercial verticals, including telecommunications, energy, maritime, aviation, and enterprise
  • Lead or support negotiations for major commercial contracts and strategic partnerships
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex partner, regulatory, and market access issues
  • Proactively identify and remove obstacles that impede commercial execution
Strategic Partnerships
  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships, including:
  • Local telecommunications operators
  • National satellite operators
  • System integrators, OEMs, and technology partners
  • Regional distributors, resellers, channel, and go?to?market partners
  • Infrastructure providers and joint venture opportunities
  • Lead partner negotiations, contract development, and ongoing performance management
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Build and lead a high?performing regional team, providing strategic direction and mentorship
  • Represent regional interests in global strategic planning efforts
  • Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration
  • Work closely with cross?functional global teams including Business Segments, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, Operations, Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing
  • Serve as the primary regional interface with executive leadership
  • Prepare and present quarterly regional business reviews
  • Manage relationships with local business councils and trade organizations
  • Collaborate with US Government and International Government Business Unit teams on defense and public sector opportunities
Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary regional collaborate with executive leadership
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with internal collaborators in line with company established processes
  • Prepare and present regional business reviews to senior management on quarterly basis
  • Manage relationships with local business councils and trade organizations
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships across all Viasat Commercial Services Business Units (Aviation, Global Fixed Broadband, Advanced Non-Terrestrial Services, Maritime, and Energy)
  • Collaborate with US Government and International Government Business Unit teams on defense and government sector opportunities
Accountability for Local Entities
  • Maintain responsibility for governance, compliance, and performance of local subsidiaries, as assigned
  • Ensure adherence to regional regulations, corporate policies, ethical standards, and financial requirements
  • Supervise regional operating budgets and resource allocation
  • Provide oversight of audits, risk management, and statutory compliance
What you'll need:
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in business development, sales, market development, government relations, or senior military/defense leadership roles (including diplomatic or international assignments)
  • Deep cultural understanding of Turkey, Russia, CIS, Balkans, Middle East, and GCC business environments
  • Established network across government and commercial sectors
  • Experience working across multiple time zones and coordinating with global teams
  • Understanding of regional geopolitical dynamics and their business implications
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in politically sensitive and sophisticated environments
  • Track record of successful business development in emerging and frontier markets
  • Understanding of regional satellite communications market dynamics and competitive landscape
  • Ability to travel freely across key markets with minimal visa restrictions, or possession of diplomatic/special passport enabling facilitated access to countries within the region
  • Valid long-term travel authorization for the United States and United Kingdom to facilitate coordination with corporate headquarters and key international partners
Regional Requirements:
  • Deep cultural understanding of Turkey, Russia, CIS, Balkans, Middle East, and GCC business environments
  • Understanding of regional geopolitical dynamics and their business implications
  • Track record of successful business development in emerging and frontier markets
  • Understanding of regional satellite communications market dynamics and competitive landscape
  • Ability to operate effectively in politically sensitive and complex environments
  • Ability to travel freely across key markets with minimal visa restrictions
  • Valid long?term travel authorization for the United States and United Kingdom
What will help you on the job:
  • Master's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent professional and military education)
  • Experience in telecommunications, satellite communications, or technology industries
  • Previous P&L responsibility
  • Understanding of government contracting and tender processes
  • Experience supporting regulatory approval and licensing for satellite services
  • Experience representing company interests at ITU events, bilateral trade forums, and international industry conferences
  • Understanding of multi?orbit satellite commercial services and applications
  • Experience with defense industry compliance frameworks including ITAR and export controls
  • Prior diplomatic posting or military attache experience in the region
