About this job:

The Senior Development Engineer can lead the technical specification of products (including change requests). The role assists the product management lifecycle support from a technical perspective, but the incumbent must also be commercially aware.

Aggreko operates in a fast-moving, highly commercial environment. To be successful in this role, you will need to be comfortable in a pressurised environment and have the ability to weigh up the commercial impact of balancing competing demands in cost, time and engineering complexity.

Accountability Level:
Experienced individual contributor (specialist operational/technical role, or experienced professional). Works independently, with limited supervision. Problems faced may be difficult but can be addressed within an established framework

Key Responsibilities

Technology prospecting

Optimisation of existing products to meet changing market demands

TC & OFA product data integrity, including the timely delivery of work instructions for product installation, testing, servicing, maintenance & operation and including the required technical competencies

Assist with specification of new products which meet the design brief and deliver the required compliance, interoperability (across all relevant fleet and customer interfaces), fungibility, reliability, utilization, total cost of ownership and durability

Define the development costs for a project and be cognisant that budget is not exceeded

Identify intellectual property used in designs

Enable continuity of enduring product knowledge

People you\'ll work with:

Collaboration with a broad range of people and groups is essential. The incumbent will work closely with:

Product Manager(s) who will provide user requirements from which products can be specified

Project manager(s) who will support delivery of fleet optimisation and new product development

The full range of the product management team to enable maximum interoperability

A variety of engineering resources from across the group

The Product Data Management team to ensure the information for which the role is responsible is properly maintained and made available

Suppliers for the purpose of establishing enduring partnerships with the aim of getting the very best from the service they provide, which also involves close collaboration with the internal procurement function

The global engineering community to whom the role provides the ultimate point of escalation for technical product questions and from whom can be gleaned product optimisation opportunities as well as a shared understanding or Regional product development programs.

Typical Experience:

Engineering degree or similar

10 years of product engineering experience in industry, preferably in rental markets or with OEM rental suppliers

Program management

Communication: engaging and influential

A sense of urgency and determination to meet tight timelines for complex deliverables
