Job Description

AECOM is seeking Senior Bridge Engineer to be based in Manama, Bahrain. The Senior Bridge Engineer will be responsible to produce the design information and coordinate with the CAD/BIM technicians for the drawings production and coordinate with the relevant design disciplines. He/She will be responsible to provide technical reviews and quality management, share technical expertise and experience with others in the company via internal technical communication and presentations. Design will be carried out in accordance with AASHTO LRFD, Eurocodes, AREMA and or any other international design code as applicable. He/She may be assigned, if required, to undertake some site inspections.
Job Duties
+ Development of feasibility and design concepts.
+ Produce detailed design information including calculations and design sketches for bridges, underpasses, rail structures, retaining walls, foundations and other infrastructure structures..
+ Provide technical lead on design tasks.
+ Liaise with CAD/BIM Technician for production of drawings.
+ Responsible to coordinate with the other disciplines to ensure there are no design gaps and provide fully coordinated design deliverables. This includes the support of the construction supervision teams.
+ Perform quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings following policies and procedures.
+ Participate in developing solutions to complex and challenging issues using engineering methodologies to define new procedures when needed.
+ Having reasonable knowledge about life cycle cost analysis of structures.
+ Plays an active role in the technical development of the team.
+ Able to monitor and track the budget for specific tasks within the project.
+ Plan and carry out site inspections of structures, if required.
+ Experienced at writing site remediation reports with solutions and guidance for Contractors and Clients.
+ Prepare technical reports including advice on concrete cracks and voids etc on site
+ Carry out risk assessments and provision of design information for Health and Safety.
+ Inspection, assessment and strengthening of road/rail bridges and other structures.
+ Championing innovation and demonstrating technical leadership to small size team.
+ Liaises with authorities to obtain permits and approvals and to discuss technical advances.
+ May be required to act as Project Manager on small to medium size discipline-specific projects. Has an excellent understanding of project delivery requirements.
+ Lead discipline input into Value Engineering reports
+ Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort/man-hours for projects.
+ Assists with proposals and participates in the development of bids and technical write-up for proposals.
Specific Skills Required
+ Must have minimum of 10+ years of hands on experience in designing and managing Bridge projects for Consultancies. ME projects experience would be preferred.
+ Must have worked at a similar level on major civil infrastructure projects.
+ Knowledge sharing to junior members of the Team.
+ Experience with various software packages for analysis and design such as Midas, STAAD, SAP, RM Bridges.
Minimum Requirements
+ Minimum Requirements 10 years of work experience. Experience in Middle East
Preferred Qualifications
+ Degree in Civil Engineering and Master's in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited University.
+ Chartered Engineer (MIStructE, or C.Eng. from UK) or Professional Engineer (PE from USA) is highly preferred.
