Senior Design Coordinator | Al Futtaim Construction
JOB PURPOSE
To co-ordinate all design information from Consultants / Specialist Contractors drawings and assist in the preparation of workshop drawings. Supervision and development of junior co-ordinators.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Design Coordination
Managing the on-site design process using commercial, contractual, programme/time awareness and technical expertise.
Supporting, understanding and advising the client as to the requirements and obligations in the development of a building design.
Ensuring the design process recognizes current legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate.
Ensuring design information is of the right quality and keeps pace with project timescales.
Identifying potential problems that may occur during the construction process
which were not identified in the final design and coordinate with the Designer and the Construction team to find a solution.
Tracking document submittals, documenting, and reporting progress and alerting the team member of risks related to potential delays.
Efficiency
Plan and organize workload to meet project priorities.
Demonstrate ability to work unsupervised but also highlight issues to senior design staff.
Resolve issues and coordination of information to meet required timescales and site activities raising RFIs as necessary.
Communication Skills
Demonstrate good written and oral skills.
Interact with Senior / Junior staff / Client / Site Team to provide appropriate feedback (meetings, advance info etc).
Show ability to manage workload with subordinate staff.
Technical Knowledge
Demonstrate ability to visualize in 3D.
Understand the requirements and ability to read Consultants / Sub contractors drawings.
Raise RFI\xe2\x80\x99s / highlighting areas left uncoordinated by the Consultants / Sub contractors.
Understand different disciplines within the construction team and reflect this in the way coordination problems are resolved.
Develop an understanding of electronic document management system.
Understand the requirements of a collaboration system and how it will benefit the design department.

Ensure that all relevant safety, quality and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety, quality of services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed within AFC

Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of process and practices taking into account, the interests and benefits to Al Futtaim and its employees.
Other Tasks
Any other reasonable request of work/ task as allocated by the Line Manager.
