WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER


The Senior Buyer will work as part of a team within the Purchasing, Contracts and Supply Management Office of Corporate Finance providing a broad range of procurement and technical resources. They will lead and manage the complete supply management process (sourcing, procurement, vendor management) on assigned procurement activities/projects. They will manage the professional services commodity category for TNC on a global scale, whether directly or indirectly by working with other business units. The Senior Buyer supports, follows, and implements the procurement activities at TNC, focusing on the complete lifecycle (“Source to Pay”) of the professional services commodity segment that includes consulting services and temporary agencies that they will directly manage or work in partnership with other departments or Business Units (BUs). They will report to and work closely with the Purchasing Manager on the full supply management process of sourcing, procurement, and vendor management for commodities being procured under approved projects that are assigned to them. They will also review and negotiate the different purchasing pricing programs for TNC working as a global conservation 501c3 non-profit. While the primary commodity for this position is professional services, they may also be asked to support other commodities, as requested. The right candidate must understand and have experience in the professional services space, experience in writing, Statement of Works (SOWs) and the understanding of the business risks involved in such contractual engagements to guide project managers and relevant stakeholders to make sure their business requirements are met and incorporated into the agreement. They must have experience and knowledge in the full supply management process and use the best available methods to source, solicit, and procure the services assigned to them. They will also be knowledgeable in the different procurement methods of such a commodity and working with the Contracts Manager to understand and negotiate the required agreements for purchasing those services. The Senior Buyer works directly with the Purchasing Manager and their internal customers’ requirements to implement, co-ordinate and prioritize projects and tasks. In performing the duties, the individual needs to be able to work independently, communicate effectively, be able to work on multiple tasks and have excellent organizational skills. The Senior Buyer will act independently and in supervisor’s stead as needed, and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems. They will develop and implement new processes and guidelines that will ensure department and organization-wide goals and strategies are achieved, ensure that programmatic commitments, Conservancy policies and procedures, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance, and make decisions that may bind the organization financially or legally. They will provide timely and accurate financial reports and analysis to different levels of management, and oversee day-to-day financial activities such as purchasing, processing invoices, negotiating, and contracting with vendors. They will ensure contracted vendors carry required insurance coverage and that appropriate documentation is obtained and maintained, maintain confidentiality of frequently sensitive and emotionally-charged information, and manage and implement multiple projects, including setting deadlines and ensuring accountability. This position will need to travel occasionally, working long and flexible hours as needed, and may supervise one or more administrative or professional staff, responsibility includes training and professional development. The work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain. The work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines. The Senior Buyer will liaise with WO HR Global Benefits team as necessary on locally provided employee benefits and manage all Operations aspects of entry into new countries in the region and exit from countries where TNC is ceasing operations.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination, including 2 years leading RF(x) teams to source and select large scale procurement.
  • Experience in the supply management process.
  • Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
  • Experience generating financial reports and analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Experience negotiating agreements.
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experiences are appreciated.
  • Ability to manage and implement complex processes.
  • Ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative role.
  • Advanced knowledge in current and evolving technology related to field of experience.
  • Knowledge of current and evolving trends in the specific field, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Experience working with government awards.
  • Strong organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
  • ISM or other professional procurement body certification desired but not required.
